The Reviews about Nine Crimes (page 2/ 2)
------ performed by Damien Rice
hmmm | Reviewer: michal RICHTMAN | 5/2/2007i think this song is about the rotten feelings left after a relationship has been torn to shreds as one or both people realize they commited a crime that stoped everything. this songs atmosphere completely makes me feel the darkness he tried to describe, the nothingness left in a relationship as it is about to end and has actually already ended but the weakness of othe ego keeps holding on and hoping there still might be some light at the dirty tunnel that's been created. great song, very frustrating idea
....how i see it.. | Reviewer: nick 17 greece | 4/23/2007
first of all this song is a dialogue, even if the other person is silent, and says just a ''no'' in the end..it could be a heartbreaking love story.they must have cheated on each other,a little crime with no excuse,(as they repeat the same lyrics)and they feel awful..the gun could be discribed(from my prospective)either as a real gun, that the person wants it to be loaded so he/she could kill him/herself,or as the way their relationship goes..he asks her if she want to continue as they are(because they dont do what they feel) or should they break up once and for all..eitherway the answer is ''no'' so he doesnt want her to commit suicide and he forgives her or he doesnt want to continue as they are,so or to break up,or to say the truth and create a real relationship...thats the way i see it...anyway its a great song, especially if you have been hurt in the past.....plz comment or contact me in msn messenger

Cheaters guide | Reviewer: Birch Street | 12/27/2006
I was first introduced to Damien Rice by a "stick figure" cartoon for "Cheers" about a year and a half ago. Since then I've sought his work. Just today I discovered some work he did with Lisa Hannigan for the soundtrack of a movie made in Ireland titled "Goldfish Memory". Yesterday by luck I caught "Nine Crimes" on David Letterman's Late Night Show.
I keep listening to Nine Crimes trying to understand what Damien wants us to see. For me it's about mistakes that all of us have or will make. It's a tug-of- war between the head and the heart. It's about blame and begging to be forgiven. Maybe it's about wanting to start days or even entire lifes over. I will insult this masterpiece no more. Thanks Damien for the strings, the haunting voices and of couse your piano.
Truly,
Birch Steet (where I came home)
Full Circle... | Reviewer: judy holiday | 12/15/2006
It was closer that got me listening to Damien...I heard "Blower's Daughter"...and then wanted to hear everything he ever made...quickly "Volcanoe" and "Cheers Darling" became my favorites. When I discovered "Nine Crimes" I wanted to review the lyrics more closely....
I am very pleased with Damien's work...
His words and music inflict the same emotion on you that he originally had when he wrote the lyrics...and you...get it...each song is a beautiful journey of understanding of his pain, and the similarities in your own...it's full circle.
