Great song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/6/07
My wife and I were watching "CSI: New York" last night when she said: "Oh what a beautiful song" They used this song as a kind of film music. I bore the lyrics in my mind to google them later. Today we baught the album!

meaning | Reviewer: sam | 12/12/06
at the concert tonight, damien went on and on about the lyrics to the song...its actually quite entertaing. they were inspired by a friends who let him use her bed one night while he was depressed. she told him to look into the sky and focus on one star. he saw a shooting star where he was looking then he asked for something bigger to happen as more of a sign. then he said the next bit was hazy and he was referring to being "abducted"...haha thats the line "i saw a spaceship fly by your window/did you see it disappear?"
The Story of O | Reviewer: Elise | 11/28/06
This is truly, as with almost every Damien Rice song, absolutely magnificent, bittersweet and tremendously moving. I do want to mention though that to truly understand it further one must learn about the story of "O", which is a French novel that was quite scandlous in its day for its topic of sexual domination and submissiveness. Obviously it has made quite an impression on Damien due to the fact that it is not only a line in the song Amie, but also the title of the album! I thought any true Damien Rice fan would be very interested to know this fact!
Stunning!!! | Reviewer: Amy Mckeown | 2/6/06
This song moved me so much the first time i ever heard it, not because i have the same name as the title of the song, but because the lyrics are so beautiful, he really captured the way somebody can feel about someone else and the music complements it so much! Absolutely amazing! as always! i recommend this song to anyone whos ever felt strongly or loved someone before! and to evry1 else! Great song!
Nothing Strange about this song, only pure artistry. | Reviewer: Temptation's Girl | 8/20/05
There's a heartbreak in the song "Amie" --- the way it starts out in a riff of an acoustic guitar, and the way Damien Rice starts to sing "Nothing unusual, nothing strange" seems to try to defy the norms of everything pop culture. Then he starts with a trajectory ode to a girl named "Amie".
The way Rice sings it seems to be dedicated to the listener, as if you're embodying Amie in the song. And the acoustic guitar in the background seems to be the background vocals of the whole repertoire. The violins add the painful heartbreak, the vulnerability of the song, which ties up all the elements in a fantastic encore.
If you love those odd love songs that tell so much more and reveal so much more every time you listen to it (it's a new experience with every earful), then I suggest you download (or get a copy) of this song. It's a true gem.
