Bush Says More Sacrifice Needed In War On Terror | Reviewer: old man | 10/6/05

BUSH SAYS MORE SACRIFICE NEEDED IN WAR ON TERROR
OCTOBER 6, 2005

"… this war will require more sacrifice…”

JOHN FOGARTY (was right)
OCTOBER 1969

Yeh, some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
ooh, they send you down to war, Lord,
And when you ask them, HOW MUCH SHOULD WE GIVE,
OH THEY ONLY ANSWER MORE, MORE, MORE...

It Ain't Me | Reviewer: Dr. Golova Croxby | 7/8/05

a punk song by a rock band. i don't know how many times i've heard it covered, but it still rocks.

How soon we forget | Reviewer: Mike | 5/29/05

When the neo-conservatives, in their tribute to Tom Delay, sing a revised version of the social justice song "If I Had a Hammer" ("We have a Hammer") and there is no collective shout of outrage at the irony and audacity, and when so few new songs are being written and sung about the horror and cynicism of today's "war on terror," I turn to Fogerty's song for comfort. We should all be reviving this song, adding new verses, and singing it, not just at Christian concerts (what were THEY protesting?), but in the streets and in the halls of Congress. Instead, we anesthetize ourselves with nostalgia and "reality" TV. We deserve what we get, but, for our children's sakes, let's WAKE UP!

remember when Forest Gump went through when this song thundered from the sceeen!?! I've never been struck so much by a song that had been in the charts twenty years before - and still the lyrics still apply for all of us to-day. So let's all help each other to be fortunate ones (without all that star spangeled , silver spoon , red white and blue stuff).
We're all human - that's it.

Fortunate Son- true today | Reviewer: Mitch | 4/26/05

It's a super song. It's even gaining popularity today with the anti-Iraqi war movement.

Great Songa are always with you | Reviewer: Mike | 10/15/04

I was picking up my three teenagers at an Alternative Christian concert recently. The band Roper was playing Fortunate Son. I was loving it! I was the only one there who knew the words and the kids thought it was "sick".
You never forget great songs. This is one of those! It took me back 35 years to the same age as those kids that I was standing with.
