I really love the song...I learned this song from my mom when I was a little girl...and I used to sing the song when I rode my motorbike to school...and now I still sing it aloud when I drive on the way to my work ..this is a lovely song someday my little baby's gonna learn it...it'll be a love song 4 her...

My, I've been looking for the lyrics of this forever longed song. It is very touching and I love every word of it. It is just saying a remote goodbye to someone you longed and loved for but, unattainable till you realize that that love is for you, when it is a little bit to late

im very hooked with this song for about 7years, i was inlove with a guy since highschool, and we got 7years age gap..it suited with the line..you're just 15 and im 22.. haha.but the version of my story is that...i didn't even got a chance to tell him what i really feel for him, and in the end.. he got married w/o even knowing my feelings..that's what i regret..but it's over..so move on..

I heard this song before but I didn't focus on listening it. But now, i tried to listen this song again and i was really surprised by its lyrics...I didn't expect the ending of their story. The girl will be married with Jimmy's best friend, John.. it hurts.. even though i didn't experience it but i can feel the real emotion. Well, I realized that "they really weren't meant to each other. Joni was not for Jimmy... if they were...no matter what...there's still a way... and they could be... how sad...

My goodness. How touching song it is!!!!. I am truly amazed at the story of the song but didn't like what they did. They had to find a way to stay with each other, they don't know to sacrifice. True love can never take away each other apart. Simple but nice lyrics. The man should have stayed in their little home town if he really loved her so much. Another easy way was to wait a little bit more, let the girl grow up a little more and then marry her, then take your own wife with you to the place you want to do a job. Both start doing jobs there together and live with each other peacefully.

I had this song inmy tapes when I was a medical student. Sadly it was lost in a bus. I got a chance to listen to it after ten years in Shillong in a roadside tea shop !!! With my wife by my side- the last stanza only. I searched in vain in nearby stores but then forgotall about it. I waited long long years to get it today from the net and I hope to call her in the morning and we will enjoy this great song and melody (and the story) - such marvellous voice and modulation.

i really like this song and i admit it touches my heart, this song has been dedicated to me of my first boyfriend, for i was too young that time, but we fall in love to each other. i am very thankful because we've change the ending of this lovestory, yeah we did it. our lovestory is really like this but we never gave up, i admit at first we cried when we say goodbye to each other but then we never gave up. he waited for me since before until now. i cried when he say that he will love me forever, and he hope that i still love him til taht day. and look at us now we are still together still going strong... hayy... i truly love him. and i know in my heart we feel the same... this song always reminds me of him...

This is such a sad song! I can really sense the sad emotions of rejected love and regret in the lyrics. Call me cheesy but, as an author and poet, I have to know how to read between the lines!
There are tears in my eyes as I read this over and over again... Such sorrow...

I really love this song. Everytime its being played from my friends mobile phone, I feel like going back to my younger days when my father & mother used to sing together. I appreciate old songs which have stories such like this song.
