Coldplay's music is just perfect..all the songs..they're just a legend..Chris sings right straight to my heart..and this song is the most emotional effect of alternative rock ever..guitar,bass and the light piano harmonize with chris voice.this song is like pure baby's drugs,,drives me straight a festive heaven even if i lie sleepy,,"BITTERsweet i could taste in my mouth"..you know the lyrics mean so much for me..is MY song..really love singing it loudly wherever i am..

amazing | Reviewer: Pomum | 2/20/07
It is just amazing how a song can fit in a moment of your life so perfectly.
Great lyrics, about a general situation of sacrifice for a close person who needs time for self-knowledge or just figuring out the future.
Its great, I agree it has certain pop sound but stills sounds like Coldplay.
Its good to have this kinda bands among the music world. Someone's gotta write about this kinda situations.
Love It | Reviewer: K | 4/23/06
As a big Coldplay fan, I admit I have a big bias. I believe this is an excellent song because of the universal lyrics about personal sacrifice. The great guitar parts and light piano add the simple, yet melancholy tone to the song that is a trademark of the band, for a good reason!
Every time you listen to this song, you will have a new idea about what it means.
The hardest part is to comment | Reviewer: DanT | 9/20/05
Hard to say if this is Coldplay at its best: the ballad is peppy, wrapped in a pop sound. But the piano part, backed up by simple but efficient guitar play and a hopping bass play, will have you tap dancing. Yes, I admit this is probably the cut of the album that is as pop as it can be. But, it's a colourful pop song, with some country-style vocal play, still well fabricated, extremely melodic and uplifting, easy-to-listen cut. Hard to swallow the first time you hear it, especially after listening to intense cuts like Square One or Twisted Logic. But after a few listenings, it turns out to be a refreshing melody that smooths off the pounding intensity found in some other tracks. Definitely, the band has a talent for giving a touch of class to any kind of rock style they adopt. And The Hardest Part is no exception.
