This song always touches me; the tune will stick i nmy head even if I cannot recall the lyrics. Looking at the lyrics while listening to such a talent sing the song is an experience. One must call into question the heart of a person not touched by these lyrics. Are they unpatriotic?- or are they simply lying?
My guess is the latter.

This music does of course stir one-however, it is by virtue of its lyrics a hymn that is nothing less than hearasy. These lyrics are not the lyrics of Christians. Lutherans (missouri synod) have taken the greatness of the music and added the word of the te deum-and now have incorproated this hymn in their new hymn book.
However, I confess that when I heard the hymn today at the memorial to Princess Diana-I too used the heretical words. Thus another reason Christians must concern themselves with what is being taught in the music used in thier churches.

English, Irish, Scottish or Welsh, in fact any country, if you understand the lyrics how can you not feel patriotic, but if you listen to Kiri te Kiwana's version of the world in Union how can you not feel the same pride in being Human??
ps not quite sure about kiri's spelling!! Heh heh!!
p.s.s. I'm quite drunk
