I "drove all weekend" recently to see her in concert, a dream realized. Celine's talent is a gift to the world, and when she sings Ave Maria it almost brings one to their knees it's so glorious. Because I also love to sing, I follow Celine's rendition of just about everything. Long live her voice, and long live mine so I can keep on imitating from the best. Ms. Dion has done a trememendous work in combining original lyrics with the Latin "Hail Mary". Ms Dion, I salute you. But the Ave Maria, the Hail Mary, a centuries old traditional prayer in the Catholic Church, why add to these words? These additional lyrics make no sense to me. They have nothing to do with the original prayer of the Church - the first part taken from Luke's Gospel, and the second part asking Our Blessed Mother to pray for us. I agree with the reviewer who describes this poor imitation as crap. My mom has one of the purest soprano voices I've ever heard. My dream was to have a recording of her singing it. She never got the chance to record it and is now 85 with failing health and no longer has the breath control needed so I will never realize that dream.
