Lyrical Issues | Reviewer: Justin Williams | 4/30/13
If you are having to defend your church, or you are angry about these lyrics, maybe you are actually telling yourself something you never wanted to know. We all know that NO band, in the history of EVER, wrote a song that addresses a problem that applies to everyone without exception. So, if in reading these lyrics you get offended, maybe you should be asking yourself, am I really being the body?
Wake Up! | Reviewer: Bradmante | 11/20/12
I think this song is beautiful. It is wake up call to everyone to start acting. Jesus is not just going to judge us on how often we go to church, but on what we do, think and say as well. This song is telling us that the true church is one body, united in Christ, not a thousand different groups arguing over who has the best beliefs. Believe me, even the best churches do that.
Church? | Reviewer: Belle | 11/20/12
To those who said that the Church is doing the right thing, which Church? Protestant...Catholic...There are so many out there, and their beliefs are so different. The real church should be the one that is united in Christ, believers of Jesus Christ, who act as his body on earth.
if we are the body | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/2/12
this song is truly a wake up call to the church to reach out to the lost out there. I dont think it's criticizing or any thing like that. A lot of us even when we say we are reaching out still are choosy about who to reach out to and we leave the ripe fruits to rotten and go for the unripe ones. Evangelism, love, caring, healing is never too much even if we have been doing it, this should encourage us to do more. And for those that think they (casting crowns) should "stop heaping guilt and lead the way", i think they are doing a pretty good job of winning soul through their music and other means.
Awesome!! | Reviewer: Darlene | 10/1/12
I heard this song for the 1st time just the other day and it spoke volumes to me. It said IF we REALLY are the Body of Christ and have faith the size of a mustard seed then WHY aren't more people being healed (physically as well as spiritually)? Jesus said we would be able to do even more wonderful works that He did and yet it isn't happening very often. I think it's a wake up call for all Christians to trust the Holy Spirit more. Those who think it is a song against the Church perhaps are speaking from a guilty conscience because they know they aren't doing all they can to further the Kingdom!
Another take on this.... | Reviewer: PatJ | 8/3/12
The lyrics of this song are not a knock on the church per say but rather a criticism of how church folks sometimes act one way when the "lights are on" and everyone is watching and then behind the scenes they are completely different and do not act in a caring and supportive way as they want everyone else to believe. There is a lot of hypocrisy going on in churches today and we need be consciencious about this if we are going to make a stand and welcome all people into the body of Christ.
Be burdened! | Reviewer: Rebecca Tembo | 7/16/12
We are disabling the body because we like to just sit pretty while others do all the work,we should be burdened for souls.Let's go out there and lead our fellow heirs in Christ back home.beautiful song!

I agree with Rick 100%. Here's another soul who feels the same as he does. The Spirit of Christ encourages the church, not criticise and try to destroy those who are doing their best to do the will of the Lord. I, as well, feel negative criticism to the church through these songs and not inspired at all by them.
We ARE the BODY | Reviewer: Dana S | 5/12/12
Most awesome song I've heard! I think the Lord is trying to wake the Church up out of a slumber! We have become so comfortable in our walk with the Lord, that we go to church, go home, go to church, go home! What happened to ministering to the Lost; What happened to getting EXCITED in Church, during our Praise time! Big Churches seem to continue Praising God, especially if they have a big choir, but little churches, need to WAKE UP and do something for GOD! Get excited! Jesus set YOU free!
Love this song, 'If We are the Body', by Casting Crowns! Love it, love it, love it! I don't think they are bashing the Church; just trying to get our attention and wake us up! Thank you! Thank You!
Unconditional Love | Reviewer: Teen on fire! | 5/10/12
I also don't believe that Casting Crowns is discriminating against the church. I think they are trying to challenge people to step out of their comfort zone and put their love into action. I know this song has really helped me to reach out and try to help better my parish! One last thing, even if Casting Crowns is discriminating against the church, respond with love! Prove to them that they're wrong! I'm sure Jesus, standing in front of an angry mob, being tormented and ridiculed was thinking "Oh I need to go blog about this and tell everyone how cruel these people are!" NO! HE FORGAVE AND LOVED THEM DESPITE IT! And so must we!
God bless you!! :)
Well Said Rick | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/24/12
Hay Rick, well said mate, like your review, I also have a great dislike for those who always bring down the Church as if it is Judgemental and evil.
The Church is the only show in town as far as God is concerned, He designed it, created it, sent His son to die for it, redeemed it with the blood of Christ, and Loves it very dearly, He will continue to build His Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
Thank God for the Church, it is the body, and Christ is the head, shame on those who wish to undermine or ridicule it.
There are those sitting in many Church buildings who may fit the description of nor reaching, caring, healing, teaching, or going but many of them are not even saved, "by their fruit (or lack of it) you shall know them"
I understand that the members of casting crowns may have been to churches where that may be the case, my advise is, leave ... its probably not the Church, it may be a false church, so please don't label us all like them.
A great challenge | Reviewer: Marie | 1/5/12
I LOVE THIS SONG! It encourages and challenges me to not be satisfied with where im at and what Im doing. We can always do more. And if we work together, just imagine what we can accomplish!
Dear Rick: | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/1/12
Rick, I understand tour frustration with the song, but I'm positive that Casting Crowns isn't trying to judge people and tell them they need to stop being sinful. Because, WE'RE ALL SINFUL!!! I'm positive you understand that based on your comment, and I believe Casting Crowns understands it also.
This song is simply telling people to come out of their shells a little and stop being stuck up all the time. I HIGHLY DOUBT that your church has none of that. Every church has it. I'm sure there are good godly people in your church but everyones judgmental.
I have a question for you, WHY ARE YOU WASTING YOUR TIME ON THIS?! I'm here because I love the song and I want the lyrics so I can sing it. Why are you here if you hate this song?!?! Because you need somebody to hear you out about this?! Because this song has been bothering you for a long time?! I doubt it! You just want people to listen to you rant on about something! You know what? I LOVE THIS SONG! It's true and powerful and moving and it inspires me to be less judgmental, and kinder. May God move you with these lyrics. -M
Can't stand this one or songs like it. | Reviewer: Rick | 12/15/11
I get so tired of people telling the church how bad we are. It doesn't take any spiritual insight to criticize the church - pagans do that all the time. When I hear this song I want to respond to the questions like this: I really can't tell you why YOU aren't going, being his hands or feet. But as for me, I am doing what I know to do and so are most of the other believers I know. They are feeding the hungry, holding orphaned kids, telling the message every chance they get. I don't know of a church where the lost would be have a "better chance out on the road". Those churches surely exist but they are certainly the dying exception not the general rule.
So if we are his body I can't tell you why YOU aren't going, or why you support a church that would judge one coming in off the street, but as for me and most believers I know, we are working to be his body. If you aren't, then stop singing to Christians, put down the mic and go be his body. Lead by example.
Slap my face. I am being very judgmental but I get tired of people who feel it is spiritual to tell the church how rotten she is. WE KNOW WE ARE ROTTEN. That is what drove us to the cross in the first place. WE KNOW WE AREN'T DOING ENOUGH! You can never do enough for the ONE who did it all for you.
But most believers I know are doing what they can while they are still wretches themselves wrestling with their own sin, failures, pain and hurt.
Instead of heaping more guilt on, why not lead the way by doing it yourself and taking others with you? Instead of telling THEM, as if you aren't a part of the body, you are somehow above that, how miserably THEY are failing.
OK, there, I got it off my chest. I said it and I'm glad.
One Love | Reviewer: Tlou Yeken Rammala | 2/28/11
This song is a very good question that we aught to ask ourselves as individuals partaking in one body of Christ. It speaks of love not showing.. For i one believe that love over-looks everything. If we all have and breed the Christ-like love.. This one unit will reveal Abba Father to the lost souls.
TY.. -Jesus Love-
