The Reviews about If We Are The Body (page 8/ 9)
------ performed by Casting Crowns

wow | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/2/06

i am alarmed by some of the things i'm reading in this review. i appreciate the song because it speaks to God's desire that His people would be transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ---that we might be accepting, compassionate, loving, speaking truth in LOVE, and passionate about reaching out to those who do not yet know Him.

as far as the conversation about homosexuality...if i were a gay or lesbian individual i would not be very interested in learning about Jesus if His followers were trying to convince me of truth by saying I'm going to burn in hell!? i might be more interested if they might just love me.

Did Jesus need your help to die for the sins of the world? | Reviewer: empty | 7/18/06

I know the point of this song is important...we are called to love our neighbor as ourself (the second greatest commandment). But the word "IF" in "If we are the body" puts our assurance on our works and not God's works. Jesus did not need your help dying on the cross. He managed that without your (my) works. In fact with was your (my) works of sin that brought him to that act. This song may do more discouraging to work in faith than encouraging. It may cause people to rely on their works and not God's grace, for who of us could look at our failures to love our neighbor and not feel condemned.

It's like the subtopic on this board. The law says all sex outside of marriage between a man and woman as sin. The gospel says God forgives sinners thru His work on the cross. The difficult part (shown on this board:) Do people need to hear the law or the gospel. Perhaps in this forum we should err on the side of the gospel? The gospel doesn't say sin it is okay - the gosepl announces God's forgiving act effective!

The law condmens us in our failures. This song accomplishes that quite well. The gospel (good news) is that God calls us to His Body, and works through our efforts. He does that best when we are aware of it, but His work does not depend on our help. Our forefathers in the faith have their sins recorded in Scripture to assure us that our sins will not stop God's plan. Our faith will include us in that plan. Our sin of omission is damaging to the faith of others. But I encourage all of His Body to give people the gospel about their works in faith so they will not lose heart and stop trying. I will do the same. God can work through an theologically flawed song to accoplish His purpose...and He works in His theologically flawed people (me included) to do His purpose as well..

Because we are the Body, in faith let's keep reaching

homosexuality | Reviewer: sunshine | 6/17/06

In the bible it also states that a sin is a sin. So for the people that have ever touch a football: your sin is just as serious as a homosexual's sin. But noone mentions that to you because it is an "earthly thing". their sin is between them and god, not us, them and god.... let them alone and let them deal with it with god.

This song says it perfectly: "Jesus payed much to high a price FOR US TO PICK AND CHOOSE WHO SHOULD COME." End of descusion:: its not YOUR opinion... its god's!

I'm glad he didn't say "damn" | Reviewer: Chris | 5/7/06

I was just trying to confirm the lyrics to this song. I've heard this song dozens of times on the radio and, let me tell you, it sounds like one of the lines is:
"why is his love not showing, damn, there is a way"

I knew there would be christian outrage if he actually swore in the song, but I couldn't figure out what he was saying if not "damn."

Well, these lyrics set me straight. The line is actually:
"why is his love not showing them, there is a way"

Don't ask me why he pronounces "them," as "tham" to make it sound like "damn," -- I guess it is just to make it sound more alternative.

Gay = Sin | Reviewer: Mike | 3/19/06

The bottom line is that homosexuality is a sin! There is no way around it! Being gay is a choice... just like stealing or killing someone is a choice. If you are gay you will go to hell. Gay people today claim to be born gay, and this is the gayest thing i have ever heard! God did not make people gay, God knows it is a sin and doesn't want people to be gay! God gave people the choice to sin or not, he just didnt make sinners.
All in all....gay people will burn in hell!

THANK GOD | Reviewer: Rose Taylor | 11/10/05

This song is great. it moves me and makes me fill like it's just me and GOD.

you're kidding, right? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/10/05

I'm a christian and a teenager. It's hard to stand for what you believe in while the world is trying to comprimise God's Word in order to be "politiically correct". The Bible CLEARLY STATES that homosexuallity is wrong. True, God loves everyone. He loves the saint and the sinner; the pastor and the thief; the straight and the gay, but his love for us does not make it ok to never accept Him as your Savior, to steal, or to do anything outside of the laws he has set for us in the Bible. This song talks about loving everyone, not accepting their sins as right. Homosexuallity IS a choice that can be made right with the mighty power of God. God's strength is the only way, but if you truly are saved, you will know that his power is strong enought to overcome anything.

how much are we listening? | Reviewer: Leslie | 8/31/05

This song is about Jesus' acceptance of EVERYONE, not just those who do things the "right" way. As for those of you quoting Scripture at Jessie, which of you have cut off a hand or put out an eye that has been the cause of your sin? That's in the Bible, too, but I don't see people taking that quite so seriously.

Jessie, God loves you as much as anyone else. Sorry that some Christians feel compelled to tell you differently.

AMEN ALESSAN | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/17/05

AMEN ALESSAN! Those were truly the message of Christ. I might add to the Scriptural references: to Jessie- John 4, John 7:53 - 8:12, Romans 1, 1 Corinithians 6: 9-20: to Melissa- Colossians 3: 1-17. I hope this helps and may the grace, peace, love, hope and redemption of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, strengthen you in all goodness, heal you and cleanse you, and keep you now and forevermore. In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

IF WE ARE THE BODY | Reviewer: Alessan | 1/21/05

Ok, first of all to the two of you who came before me: this is not to debate the immorality of homosexuality, this is to witness to others by recommending a song that speaks very highly of our Majesty. Next thing: since we have already started this topic about homosexuality, I dont believe in it and I believe it is wrong, but JESUS never came to anyone in the violent way that you just did Melissa. May GOD bless you and keep you safe, and help you to find a kinder way to treat people that have fallen off of the WAY. To Jessie: read the WORD and really think about the words "Thou shalt not lie with a man as thou liest with a woman" and what they mean. I pray that GOD gives you the insight to their purpose.

NOW FOR THE REVIEW!!! I believe this song is an absolutely MARVELOUS way to witness and worship. A drama team from a neighboring church came to youth night and it really moved a lot of people. I think that the lyrics especially speak to people about how we need to behave toward others and new-comers.

May GOD bless you and keep you safe, may you never want for anything, and may the palm of his hand always be open to shelter you from the storm!
