This song sends shivers down your spine. I saw Carbon Leaf in Baltimore this past summer and they were amazing!!! I plan to see them in a couple weeks when they come thru to Hagerstown. I surely hope that these guys get more nationwide playtime. They are talented musicians - I went out and bought every album they had so far and cannot wait for further releases.

Such a great song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/11/2008

I actually wasn't familiar with this song before I had the opportunity to see them live in Baltimore this summer. Needless to say, it blew me away. Their songs connect to so many people, even if it's not the standard type of music you listen to, there's something you can relate to.

What a great song! | Reviewer: Nighthawk | 8/21/2007

I came across this song by accident while setting up a closing flag retirement ceremony for a local BSA camp outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. I needed several songs so we could do the final US flag retirements. We had 25 flags that needed to be retired. While looking for songs I came across this one. After listening to it I knew this was the one. I found that Carbon Leaf had just performed it in front of several US Veterans’ during a special ceremony in Washington D.C. I was in tears thinking about both of my father-in-laws that served our great country. When we finished the ceremony there wasn’t a dry eye at the campfire. Several Veterans came up later and thanked us for the very memorial ceremony. I decided to purchase Carbon Leafs new album and love it. They really have some great songs. Texas Stars * Learn To Fly * A Girl and a Horse * The War Was In Color * Under the Wire * Bright Lights

it hits home. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/25/2007

i was very young when my grandfather died, so everything i know about his experiences in world war II is through old black and white photos.
i got more than teary-eyed when i heard this song. i sobbed. this is a conversation i would have liked to have had with my grandfather.

wow | Reviewer: Vevila | 2/13/2007

This song gets me every time
A couple friends and I performed this at our school's MLKJr. assembly, it seemed like the entire high school was teary-eyed by the end.
Carbon Leaf's music is great, but the lyrics really speak.

a little mishap gone right | Reviewer: Stefan | 10/28/2006

Hi, im 29 and i live in sweden, so excuse my spelling and/or grammar.

I got hold of this song actually by mistake as i was listening to a webradio and for some reason accidentally pressed the recordbutton without knowing, and it continued for a while and i did not know it at the time, cuz i was out walking my dogs. But when i came in, i stopped the recordning and thought to my self, -i guess i'll just delete it and move on, but i felt that i should give it a listen, just for fun. This song was one of the twelve that had been playing while i was out on my walk, and my skin crawled on me, the very moment i first heard him sing: "the war was in color". I have'nt had the opportunity to hear other songs, but as i read some other lyrics on this page i really like to get my hands on some more.
It does'nt seem like your ordinary mainstream garageband type of rock, and although it kinda smells a little bit like "the global greatness of americana" i feel that this song applies to each and every nation that ever took part in a war, for what ever reason i might have been.

War is not about who's right - its about who's left.
So make a right, before it turns wrong....

Peace out....

Wow! This song has such a deep meaning. My Spectra teacher introduced it to my class on 9/29/06. Spectra's a combination of History (U.S.), Government, and economy. My teacher did stop it early though so I didn't get to hear the whole song, and just reading it now actually got me a little teary. I myself just signed up for 6 years so it really made me think. I haven't seen war before, but its the fact that I will. This song, of course, is ging to affect everybody differently. Carbon leaf is deffinantly one of my favorite bands now. Not only do they have this song but they have a whole lot of others that are extremely good!
