The metaphors don't actually add anything, they're just a chance to show off his ability to string together esoteric references. They don't clarify anything or add anything. Canibus is a lot like Nas. It's never as deep as it sounds. Unlike seemingly everyone that posted, I actually know what he's talking about, and I can tell you it doesn't mean that much. And BTW, Canibus recorded the lyrics before the beat existed. You can thank Stoupe (the producer) for how well they go together. His lyrical ability is great, that doesn't mean he's a genius. The whole song is basically about himself being the greatest rapper ever. The metaphors aren't any more meaningful than the usual things you here, he just goes into highly technical, esoteric information (which doesn't actually add anything to the song other than sounding cool), or glorifies himself by painting his actions as religious or philosophical when he's just rapping about how great he is. And you can go through his entire catalogue, you'll find that the philosophy never goes any further than a sound bite that fits neatly into a cool-sounding punchline. I wouldn't be surprised if he surfed wikipedia when he wrote his songs. To put it simply: Canibus' ability to put complicated words together is what makes this song great. The actual messages and meaning in this song are no deeper than something you'd get from lil Wayne (and that's not a compliment). Nas is the same way. It's never as deep as it sounds. But the main reason I wanted to comment this is in response to Raw Meats comment about Eminem. While I won't deny that Canibus is the better lyricist you aren't giving Eminem enough credit. Yes his Encore and The Re-Up were garbage but Eminem is still one of the best rappers of all time. His first two well known LP's really show his genius. His first album Infinite was also sick. Check out the lyrics for the song Infinite.
