Years later as an adult I looked and found the song again and it was as if it was new to me all over again! The lyrics (most of all) along with real band music, i.e. the horn section, bass & electric guitar, drums, etc,etc. are what I hear today. It was as if I had heard it again for the first time because the lyrics were what was so profound to me. Larry Blackmon was always my favorite cod piece wearing guitarist. This brotha is so deep for what he was stating even back then. This cut is so deep because there are so many of us Black, White,Latino, Mexican, Asian, Indian,etc.,etc. who can feel where he is coming from right now in 2008. Although these lyrics were written years ago even today we are still striving to accomplish what it was he was talking about for example: It’s the world who’s out to see Basic respect humanity I’m just trying to be for real in a world with less appeal I'm so frustrated and flustered At what has been reduced to justice It is immoral or a sin If it is according to the skin I’m in. Then if you keep listening you begin to think about how bad our government has be behaving & just the present state of our economy and you then feel what he means when he states in the lyrics:Gross injustices surround me from the highest levels of power and you say these are the people I depend on for my survival. After sharing just those few lyrics there really is nothing left to say. So I will leave you with yet another verse to think on and you tell me what you think......
