Love this song. It is my favorite of theirs. I just saw Cake in Portland and they opened with this song. The crowd just went wild. Awesome show. They always show you a good time and they have the best fans.

To Dylan, I can see how this might offend people. It doesn't offend me, but some people might get mad at this song, especially close to 9/11.
This song, I believe is about a non-conformist skaterish group. The group is described in the first and forth verses. They are talking about living life from life ("fastening your safety belts and stepping towards the ledge") instead of a more materealistic Americanized fashion ("He is living comfort eagle, you can meet at his location but you better come with cash"). That is what I think it's about, and why I think people might have gotten offended.
CAKE= kick ass band | Reviewer: CAKE fan | 11/2/09
I was watching Shallow Hal a couple years ago, and from that whole movie all I remembered is this song soo I looked it up and I listened to it and still do, I love this song. Other good songs by CAKE are "Hem of your garment" and "Never there" both great songs!
Just saw cake in concert | Reviewer: natedogg | 9/9/09
I have never paid attention to cake in the past until my girlfriend took me to a up close and personal show with them and I was absolutely impressed. They were great showmen and had the crowd involved throughout their 2 sets and encore. I really appreciate a humble band who states apparently every show "We are Cake We are here to serve YOU. Thank you for listening to our music" I really truly felt that he was absolutely sincere when he said this. I guess in the end thats all that matters....... I will def see them again in the future. I hope........
OBEY CAKE | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/20/09
CAKE are one of those bands that are anomolous, they cannot be pinned down or categorized. I frankly don't care if they ever reach "pop" status. Being on the fringe keeps them sharp and inventive. Comfort Eagle is indeed one of their best, included on one of their best. It's all good though. I've enjoyed many of their live performances, and am looking forward to yet another when they appear at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in beautiful Lowell, Massachusetts in May 2009. OBEY COMFORT EAGLE, OBEY CAKE...
Loved it halfway through | Reviewer: Brian Hurrel | 4/15/09
I just heard this song today for the first time on a college station. It's just a neat, quirky, catchy tune, but the lyrics are great as well. Of course, the station didn't give the name of the song or artist, but I was able to find the lyrics by searching "building a religion" and "onion head hat". I'm definitely getting this.
Amazing Song | Reviewer: Dylan | 6/5/08
This is one of my favorite Cake songs, if not my absolute favorite. Comfort Eagle is an amazing album. Too bad this never became a single (it was going to be, but then 9/11 happened and they thought this song might offend people... I don't really see how it has anything to do with 9/11 besides the word "airplane" showing up once, though...)
They should reissue the whole album and release this song as a single. It's put together well, it's catchy, and it means something. I like Comfort Eagle even better than Short Skirt Long Jacket.
5/5
Love it! | Reviewer: Sarah | 12/24/07
This is the kind of song that makes me love cake even more (if that's possible)they are the only band I know that could get away with a song like this, as is with most of their songs.
