------ performed by Butthole Surfers

The anonymous review on 1/15/09 was right. The names mentioned in the song were real people, mostly classmates of Gibby's at Lake Highlands High in Dallas, and poetic descriptions of their demise. It's funny to think that Gib was a clean cut social (jock) in high school. Austin changes people.
my meaning | Reviewer: Jessy | 10/20/09
i personally believe that everyone on this forum is correct, because each song has a different meaning to each individual. The great thing about music is that we each percieve the lyrics in a different way because of our unique experiences. To me this song is about a druggies life, the way that they live life to the fullest without realize that its killing them. In the corus, its saying how they can also slow down and are just like everyone else, but so few others can see that....

i believe that this song is about drugs, and the emotional and physical roller coasters they cause. the chorus is describing the drugs.
"They were all in love with dyin'
They were drinking from a fountain
That was pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain"
these lines describe the emotional high people feel, although its killing them, they continue to overuse.
the verses describe the physical pain that can be caused to people when doing drugs, such as being shot, dying from a virus caused by having virtually no immune system, they rape, pillage, and plunder.

I was surprised when I finally looked up this captivating song's lyrics . I always heard the word Texas as traces , like a harness . So to me [they were doing it in traces] refered to some form of bdsm action in this time of Aids. The rest of the song fits ,[gushing down a mountain] repeated 3 times is an obvious ode to orgasm , while smelling someone in your clothes is best achieved by intimacy . Texas ? well there are a lot of horses there .
The meaning.... | Reviewer: Josh | 6/13/09
In terms of the meaning of each individual line I'm not sure. But the overall song is about a wild night of partying in Dallas that turned into a weekend of partying. A good friend of mine, Paulie, was hanging out with these guys during this time. By the end of the weekend the entire band was torn to shit and Paulie had ended up getting shot in the leg.
awesome | Reviewer: JZ | 5/14/09
Awesome song, and with people arguing over its meaning, I mean, look at the band, the songs they write, it appears to me that they came up with the song beat and made the lyrics fit. Maybe it has a different meaning, but I still like to believe what i see. Either way, screw it. Its an awesome song!
Keep it Simple | Reviewer: Hauntd | 4/21/09
In my opinion, we're over-thinking this. I believe the song is simply about cadence. The lyrics flow. They just sound good strung together they way they are. Do they refer to something? I'm sure they do, but only the Lyricist(s) know exactly to what. After all, they could refer to any obscure event that occurred in their lives and is only meaningful to them. If you listen to Ozzy, he said it best in the song - Not Going Away, when he said "Only I know what goes on in my head".

i absolutely love this song. and i cant get over ex-chemist at large's review. it seems he has quite a bit of street experience and it looks as though he has a degree in at least one field. hes not stupid. i agree with most of the reviews here: reckless teen habits, habitual drug use, sharing needles, obsession of youth, and drinking. it seems to me that the BHS have quite an appetite for life and every conceivable evil that befalls a living human. but then again, i consider this a work of art, that, like most works of art, are only interpreted by the beholder. i believe that the BHS's concept of the song is completely abstract and meaningless. therefore, as is human nature, when we find something with no meaning, we must find one. and we find one that can relate to ourselves. as the saying goes,"beauty lies in the eye of the beholder".
Drug use. | Reviewer: Falt | 2/21/09
It's about drug use and close affection with some sort of significant other.
Obviously drug use and trafficking is dangerous and violent in the streets. The smells he refers to is to the smell of heroine. I don't know how many of you have actually smelled heroine with cinnamon. A player from the Cowboys (I can't remember the name) got in trouble for rape and heroine use, hence "Ever-Present.." since people would watch him on the television.
I don't think I really need to explain the rest.
