I think you guys are missing the point here, this song has a lot to do with reincarnation "To shed this skin, be born again" That one speaks for itself. "It starts with an ending" His new life will start after this one. "But i've made peace with the falling leaves, i see their same fate in my own body" He has accepted that he will die and go back to the earth. The rest can really explain itself.

suicide. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/16/10

i think it is about suicide. it ties into the last song where he crashes drunk. Chronologically this song should be before that one. The lyrics soon i will disappear, and it starts with an ending, as in the ending of the album and his life.

Nah, man, it's not quite about suicide; it's about realizing how short life is and that death is sooner than we'd expect, so Conor's basically saying, "Let's do as much as we can before then," with lyrics such as, "So Michael, please keep the tape rolling, boys keep strumming those guitars." The first paragraph is the early wanderings of the mind that figure out the situation of life and death, and the second paragraph is where he is telling them to live it up before dying, while the third paragraph is when he is ready to die and meet his Creator.

I don't think it's so much about the media as it is about him commiting suicide ("thankyou friends for the time we've shared...", "I've made peace with the falling leaves, I see their same faith in my own body...and return to that which gave birth to me".

But it is an awesome song and Conor is a great lyricist.

i love this | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/19/08

this is such a great song and i think really shows off conor's abilities as a lyricist (as usual) plus i think the motion sickness version of it really showsoff the talents of the band
generally i just think this is a fantasic representation of one person's view of the media
