AMAZING | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/8/09

I'm supposed to paint a picture of one my favorite songs that has meaning for an art assignment. I'm still researching, but i think this will definitely come out on top. Can someone please give me an idea for a painting for it?

words that understand | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/6/09

I was an addict along with my ex. I made it through and quit that life. He didn't. He left me, said he didn't want me anymore after I turned my back on everyone for us to be together. I had to deal with it on my own. I made it but am still really depressed he didn't have the strength.

Love Drugs | Reviewer: Brandon | 12/10/08

In the spirit of the author, it takes one to know one, and I am a drug addict. IF no one here has been an addict before they don't understand the backwards kind of love that exists between a couple of addicts. It is a light at the end of the tunnel and even though it will be extinguished long before any destination is reached, the company is worth the trouble. This song encompasses that feeling well. By the way, One flask isn't gonna get two people drunk, but couple it with a couple vicodin and it will do the trick. Only one disagreement with the other reviews on here is that the line "The reasons have all run away but the feeling never did" is a beautifully written explanation to the end to these faux loves that come along to ease the pain (pun intended)because the reasons to continue the arrangment have all run off but the feeling never does. Great song.

once and for all-its totally about drugs. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/24/08

seriously-this song is about people who have a drug problem. not only is this obvious by the lyrics (esp if youve been/are there) but it makes sense for conor to write about this situation because hes been in it.

"Supplies are endless in the evening by the morning they'll be gone"
**Supplies=code word for drugs. There are always plenty at night but always consumed by the morning.

"You're looking skinny like a model with your eyes all painted black
Just keep going to the bathroom, always say you'll be right back
Well, it takes one to know one, kid, I think you've got it bad
But what's so easy in the evening by the morning's such a drag"
**I can totally see why Bulimia could be plausible, but I really think it's coke. If you're bulimic (been there), you puke once or twice after eating and what party after hours has much food? Coke you have to go to the bathroom for frequently and girls on coke always have dark eyes to hide the circles. He says it takes one to know one-Conor has never been bulimic but he has been a drug addict. And in the morning coming down always sucks.

"We might die from medication, but we sure killed all the pain
But what was normal in the evening by the morning seems insane"
**Okay-self explanatory, no?

"And I'm not sure what the trouble was that started all of this
The reasons all have run away, but the feeling never did
It's not something I would recommend, but it is one way to live
Cause what is simple in the moonlight by the morning never is"
**Theres always a reason when you start doing drugs but then it dissolves and you just do them to do them and becaause it feels good. In the morning its complicated, yes, but at night it always feels oh so good.

I would also argue that this isn't necessarily a relationship but that it might be a one night stand or a hook up with a girl he met at a party or something.
"But me I'm not a gamble, you can count on me to split
The love I sell you in the evening by the morning won't exist"
**The drugs they do make them feel in love and close, but he promises its just for the night.

But hey I'm just ex-bulimic 19 y/o drug addict, so what do I know?
xo xo

i think that this song is about drugs and an overnight love. She is going to the bathroom to do drugs and he says "it takes one to know one kid i think you've got it bad." which tells us that hes a drug user to. But by saying "kid" it seems like he just met this girl and that they're not actually in love. & i don't think this song is about the girl at all. i think he is talking about the way he lives by picking up girls at night that he doesn't actually love and then having the complications of the morning after when the drugs have worn off.

Coke | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/21/08

I'm fairly sure that the song is about a coke addicted couple. They're going to places with endless supplies in the evening.
His description of the girl as "You're looking skinny like a model with your eyes all painted black" is a perfect description of a coke addict. When it says she keeps going to the bathroom, its talking about a common behavior for coke addicts of doing it in the bathroom so no one knows.
Its fairly straightforward if you've been in the world of the coke addict.

I wanna cry... | Reviewer: Wibble | 10/16/08

It TOTALLY makes sense if it's about drugs... well, in my opinion, yes.
EVERY verse can relate to it....
i've put it together.
I, myself, am a drug-user... it is a way of life, not something i would recommend.
I especially like the part where he points out "The reasons all have run away, but the feeling never did" like he did it once maybe cause of something that happened...? but that all went away.
He wasn't doing it to leave feelings behind, he didn't have a reason to do it anymore. He just got addicted to it and the feeling never goes away cause it's an everyday habit.... I don't know... that's how I saw it.

This is a beautiful song, though.
Conor is an amazing writer.
Life-changing, mayne.

questionable | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/16/08

I agree with the drug addictions and possibility of eating disorders, this song is comparable to different conspiracy theories all about the same event (which this song is strung out chronically to make it seem such) but i think when he says "And I know you have a heavy heart, I can feel it when we kiss
So many men stronger than me have thrown their backs out trying to lift it
But me I'm not a gamble, you can count on me to split
The love I sell you in the evening by the morning won't exist"
im not sure if this is a reference to drugs, or if he is trying to tell her that he isnt trying to make her feel loved, and that if she does at some moment during the night she wont in the morning because it will be obvious that nothing worked out "but me im not a gamble, you can count on my to split".
im so overly analytical

Drugs?? | Reviewer: Natasha | 9/10/08

I think this song is about two drug addicts in love, the girl possibly on heroine. ("Your looking skinny like a model with your eyes all painted black"----dark circles around the eyes, emaciated figure, "But what's so easy in the evening by the morning's such a drag"----- Probably when the drugs wear off). At first I thought that this could be about a girl who's bulimic, but it couldn't possibly be, because it's only got one verse that could relate to that, where the whole song can be related to drugs.

my favorite bright eyes song | Reviewer: Kelly | 8/26/08

when i listen to this song i imagine it's about a couple. an alcoholic who's taking his girlfriend to a party late in the evening--so late taxis aren't even stopping--because he needs a fix. supplies are endless in the evening by the morning they'll be gone. i imagine that the girl is a bulimic and a drug addict--skinny like a model as a result of this. going to the bathroom always say you'll be right back--either shooting up or throwing up. it takes one to know one--they're both addicted to something. i've got a flask inside my pocket we can share it on the train. they're running away from something. maybe life hypothetically speaking. and what is simple in the moonlight by the morning never is. describing the effects of the drugs and fixes diminishing with the morning and needing to get fucked up all over again.

i love this song because it's very reminiscent of me and my boyfriend and our problems and our love for each other regardless.

i wish i could sit down with conor ((whom we're naming our son after)) and ask him what his songs mean. i'm sure there's such greater meaning to so many of them that i couldn't even fathom.

cheers.
