For instance, trying to be our own best friend. It only works for so long... I feel like when our sadness gets too overpowering we try to kill it by abusing our meds, drinking too much and doing drugs. At night it feels good because we're numb. We convince ourself that it's justified to get so fucked up because we're sad and deserve to feel better for just a little while. I love the way he captures the reality of this by saying "It's not something I would recommend, but it is one way to live Cause what is simple in the moonlight by the morning never is" Eventually I think it's up to all of us that are down that path to realize it isn't a good way to live. I really connected to this song in those ways.
