The Reviews about Lua (page 5/ 8)

My analysis | Reviewer: WHitney | 2/29/08

I feel like this song is about sadness and negative ways we try to cope with it. For instance, trying to be our own best friend. It only works for so long...
I feel like when our sadness gets too overpowering we try to kill it by abusing our meds, drinking too much and doing drugs. At night it feels good because we're numb. We convince ourself that it's justified to get so fucked up because we're sad and deserve to feel better for just a little while.

I love the way he captures the reality of this by saying
"It's not something I would recommend, but it is one way to live
Cause what is simple in the moonlight by the morning never is"

Eventually I think it's up to all of us that are down that path to realize it isn't a good way to live.

I really connected to this song in those ways. I'm sure it may be different for you.

summary | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/28/08

the songs about how all the things we do at night like drink, take pills, do coke, etc. we do those things to get away from our problems or feel better about our lives.. maybe to feel not so alone.. but then in the morning we still have to face reality. be that the hangover, the drunken hookup, the lack of sleep, whatever.. no matter what we always have to face reality. good song for sure.

U girls are insane | Reviewer: JC | 2/26/08

The song is partially deals with every mans ambition to go out and play a differnet role at night, take advantage of women, and by the morning regret the night ever exsiting. You can come up with all sort of things, the bottom line is "But me I'm not a gamble, you can count on me to split, The love I sell you in the evening by the morning won't exist"

About her going to the bathroom all the time, she is doing drugs...duh

WOW | Reviewer: Sarah | 2/22/08

This song is not about drugs at all.
It kind of makes me sad that you guys think that it is.
This song is melencholy, and has extreme sadness.
Maybe I'm just depressed and I could relate to this song for 3 years but still.

I guess it can go different ways for people,
but the main perspective is depression of lonliness and trying to kill off that pain.

Get over yourselves. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/3/08

All of your meanings might mean something, but it's not the right meanings. Hell, I don't even know the real meaning for his song. But putting other people down for relating to this song will not get you anywhere.

Review... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/27/07

I have read some of these other people little reviews and some of them are really stupid. Like this song is soo cool cause I do drugs and my friends do drugs and we do a lot and all that stupid shit and this song is cool...yeah...no..this song is the truth and it is beautiful, he is not praising people that do drugs. I mean for goodness sakes...he is sorrowful and depressed and he wants to get out of the habits of night fall but it seems impossible...he wants the mornings to feel good but they don't..not for him or his love...:"not sure what the trouble was that started all of this
The reasons all have run away, but the feeling never did"....anyways read the song and really listen to it before you say stupid ass shit...i dunno...feel it...dont just be all like oh drugs how cool...gay asss fuks

beautiful | Reviewer: ryan | 12/16/07

This song balances gritty themes with beautiful poetry and music. I love it. Connor Oberst is one of the great songwriters of our time.

This is a beautiful song.. It's one of my favourites, but personally I like Lover I Don't Have to Love, a bit better.
Lua is a very beautiful song.. It's like wind that flows through your soul and makes you feel really really good.
