Sorta...this song is not celebrating a one night stand.....its just saying fact!! I mean really read the lyrics without the song....for example the first part two people meet somewhere.....attraction....as most of us who have been in clubs kno A LOT of love is never found at a club..very rare...its mostly hookups. "Your tongue in my mouth, trying to keep the words from coming out You didn't care to know who else may have been you before" its like this person he just met wants no love but SEX thats it plain and simple just a fling...."I want a lover I don't have to love I want a girl who's too sad to give a fuck or I want a boy who's so drunk he doesn't talk" a girl who is too sad to give a fuck...thats pretty bad to not care who your with just as long as it feels good same goes for the guy. They just wanna stay in the moment where it feels good. And then the last verse "Love's an excuse to get hurt and to hurt. Do you like to hurt
I do, I do.Then hurt me". Love is about being hurt and then going out and doing whats happened to you and try to put that same feelings onto someone else its very vindictive. Or so the lyrics explain. And asking if someone likes to be hurt well no one does really, its very sarcastic of an answer and then to encourage it also. Its like a cycle, love, hurt, love with sex-sex without love, someone gets hurt in the end. I guess unless you've been through it then its hard to decipher.

a large part of the song is it's lyrics. I don't care about the drugs and one night stands; you hear songs about that constantly. What gets me is 'Love's an excuse to get hurt

honestly, this song isn't something that really stands out, nor is it particularly good, but god, I'm in love with it.

Bright Eyes, I'll tell you one thing, their music not the best, yet their lyrics can be very heart felt and warming.

I do like this song but it's because of the words. I guess I just like how they tell people that love hurts and you'll fall back on whatever you can get. One Night Stands. Drugs. Alcohol. You name it and you'll probably be falling back onto it after you're shattered.

The tune to this song, horrific. One of the worst I've ever heard really. I listen to music a lot, and the way they make the sound of this song, it's pretty frickin' bad and yet it still captivates me because of the lyrics. The lyrics and his voice at "You said, it feels good. I said "I'll give it a try". The way his voice peaks, I'll admit makes me happy to hear the song.

With that being said, I don't think that this is one of their better songs and though many of the 12-14 year olds are all swooming over it probably thinking it's the best thing that hit their ears, grow up. I'm sorry but it's time to move on from this song. I did and believe me, the musical world it is better without it. Listen to System Of A down, Sparks the rescue, Jet Set Satellite. Something with a better beat. Something that'll give you more meaning.

I was told to check out Saosin cos I like the Blood Brothers and Neon Blonde. But I don't like this stupid band at all, and this song is retarded. All it's telling you to do is have a one night stand.

i absolutely love this song ! haha , my mom's in love with brighteyes , and i never really liked them until i heard this song ! the lyrics are soo good , i love the part where it says "you write such pretty words, but life's no storybook" , i dont know why but its just so great !

this song is so true. and bright eyes are amazing. its so personal and really relates back to me.

i love bright eyes more than any other band and there songs are truly amazing. but i realllly don't like it when people are obsessed wit this song because to me there are such better songs. like i've never thought of this one s one of my favorites. dont get me wrong it's a good song but like for those of you who are saying that "

this is one of the most horrible songs i've ever heard. it's about the selfishness and emptiness you feel like you want after you've been hurt so much you've forgotten what love is about. i hope i never feel the feelings this song wants to celebrate.

i think this song is basically about being hurt from love and etc. so drugs seem to be the obviouse answer. which then leeds to more heart break :(

conor oberst has some good lyics occasionally i'll give him that, and he stands out in a time when lyrics are almost univesally terrible. However he is without a doubt the most overrated musician at the moment. Most of his fans are teenagers who know absolutely nothing about music, and usually like to think they have a lot of deep and meaningful problems. He tried to impersonate thom yorke (who himself is basing himself around the musically 'difficult' persona of bob dylan) and released the album 'digital ash in a digital urn'...pffftttt it was an absolute piece of shite. Just not a great talent its as simpole as that, he has (as of yet) not released a GREAT album, and many of his albums are characterised by mediocrity. Pretty good song this one though for sure. I hate him, but i admit he has potential/some talent.

This song is so good. It's the second song i've heard of Bright Eyes, and i'm listening to it non stop. Even right now, lol, its on repeat. It just incredible. I love the background music as well, it creates such a painful yet enchanting mood. i just can't get over this song. 5 STARS!

Where did this song even come from? I was just watching Fuse and it came on. The video is unique (like everything else Bright Eyes does). And this song...it is just the greatest, most refreshing song I have heard in such a long time. It's all I have been listening too. And hey, Conor even sounds a bit like the band brand new in this song. Sweet.
