once in a while an artist proves his worth, a great song comes along- poetic, musical and straight to the heart. this here is a great song and it gets me everytime with its powerful words and imagery. thought provoking even when the music dies.

:] | Reviewer: Lindsay | 1/28/08

so this song. makes me just really break down.
but sometimes you need to break down.
and cry.
and the words of this song. get me everytime.
its because this song is easy for me to relate to.

FOUR WINDS | Reviewer: hannah | 1/24/08

four winds is not satanic at all or anti-religion. what the song is saying, is that if you think about it religion has caused a ton of conflicts and disputes in history, some of which had tragic consequences (such as the holocaust) and so it can be argued that religion is ridiculous.
but it is also saying that if religion really does enhance your life in some way, then great--believe whatever you want, but don't bring other people into it or force it on others because no religion is right or wrong.

walk away | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/28/07

i love the motif of "walking away". it's used in so many differen ways in different situations. pure brilliance

You'll be free child once you have died
from the shackles of language and measurable time
...until then walk away walk away walk away

that part is so powerful.

powerful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/27/07

the most powerful line in this song is " i dont want to risk our paths crossing someday, so you walk that way ill walk this way." every time i hear this song i feel like i stop existing and the world just goes on.

Awesome | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/13/07

This is the first Bright Eyes song that i actually sat down and cryed to. I can relate immensly to parts of this song and it breaks my heart every single time i hear it. This is still one of my favourite Bright Eyes songs. Although i feel bad for all the suffering that Conor does sometimes i dont feel sorry for him when he can create songs like this that lots people can relate to. His poetry in some songs is mesmerising and the way in others that he is so upfront.

sheesh | Reviewer: daniel | 10/30/07

this song brings me down to a place where sadness and happiness don't even exist and i can truly be.

Universal | Reviewer: MyNeverEndingSadness | 10/10/07

i didnt mean to say all universal just some seem to be.some songs seem to be way diffrent when your really depressed and or drunk compared to when u listen to it sober i guess but hey thats me .i was just reading a reveiw for four winds and some guy was saying it was a satanic song.i think its either about anti-relgion(if u burn them all together youll get close to the truth)or a love song the part were when satans gone the whores heart cant sustain)and anyways u can be anti-relgion that doesnt make u a satanist

Universal | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/7/07

Universal doesn't necessarily mean that the song's meaning is completely based upon the listeners take on it.
Most of his songs are completely understandable in the way that you know exactly what he wrote it about, songs like this one, first day of my life, waste of paint, A perfect sonnet, poison oak, those all have clear meanings that couldn't possibly be read as any other meaning.
I think he meant universal in a way that everyone can relate to the song because everyone has had similar issues.

universal | Reviewer: MyNeverEndingSadness | 10/5/07

Bright Eyes songs are all universal
it means what the hell u want it to mean he even said so in a peta interveiw although some songs are pretty upfront like lets not shit our seleves and when presidents talk to good i thought this song was about love and lost and the drinking that fills up the viod(i found a liquid cure for my land locked blues)
