Stupid | Reviewer: crystal | 10/7/07

That is a stupid concept. Just to say that one is nothing because one is everything. It actually means that you are all the same because everybody is trying to be something different . We are the same because we all strive for indibvidualuty. It kind of hints at suicide and I don't like that. Suicide is not the answer to go into the afterlife. if that were the case we wouldn't be afraid to leave everything behind when we die. We would all just kill ourselves without a doubt. I hate Con. his lyrics are so moapy. What is the point of singing songs that make other people even think of death as an escape . Death is not the escape but how you leave this earth

Irony | Reviewer: Me | 9/15/07

It's just a song people. :P Stop trying to decipher it. If you appreciated it, yay, if not, oh well. There's a message in it that is as plain as day and if you understand, take it to heart and be on your way.

just thoughts | Reviewer: Scotty | 8/20/07

This song is beautiful for so many reasons. I think it brings to light a lot of ironies in society in general while at the same time embracing life without regrets: looking at life objectively and, when its all said and done, loving it for what it is while compelling us to evolve (the evolution thing is not so much said...but I feel like it has that undertone).

"We must stare into a crystal ball and only see the past, And in the caverns of tomorrow with just our flashlights and our love, We must plunge, we must plunge, we must plunge."

I think it has some very Buddhist concepts to it. At the end, we are nothing because we are everything.

GREAT Song!

the ending | Reviewer: jason | 7/29/07

about the ending guys. I think it's not so much accepting death so much as it understanding that death connects us ("Death will bring us back to God") ... that sort of common singularity allows you to let go of all your baggage. Especially in America, where so much emphasis is placed on personal identity. We like to think of ourselves as individuals, as seperate from other people, as competitors. But ultimately everything is the same, even when it's different.

All good | Reviewer: John | 7/16/07

I am delighted to find NO negative comments about this song. Conor Oberst is indeed a genius. his songs are so unique and his lyrics catchy. i have set myself a goal to introduce this extraordinary band/individual to as many people as i can. LOVE IT.

woah | Reviewer: Tom | 7/1/07

any songwriter with the bravery to write a song about death and make it uplifting is an absolute genius.

LOVELOVEDESU | Reviewer: Talim | 7/1/07

The fact that this song makes me cry is amazing.
It is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
So much meaning...Marlie, I love your opinion on the ending.

Everything...this whole song is beautiful. Amazing.
I hope Conor knows how much we all love this song.

Thank you for such a song that make me happy and sad.

soo you know | Reviewer: marlie | 6/24/07

the song is about celebratign when you die, or when/if you know your going to die. watching the music video helps you realize it.

and btw, the kyrics at the end
"I'm happy just because
I found out I am really no one".

it doesn't mean that

"the whole song is just ironic. How you're trying to be that optimistic person everyone thinks you are.the whole song is just ironic. How you're trying to be that optimistic person everyone thinks you are."

he is talking baout how happy he is that his time on earth is done and how he realized that him, along with everyone else is no one on the earth.

yea

sorry i know it's just like opinion and stuff,

woooo, | Reviewer: no one | 5/26/07

i think this song is simply amazing, i love how conor sings about such unique things. not all the cliché things everyone else sings. i love how he frequently sounds like hes on the verge of crying, or having a nervous breakdown.
