first of all a perfect sonnet and one foolish line. he's not refering to the song it's self. he's talking about life and love in general and how it's so brief.
also this song has dual meaning. it seems to be about religion just as much as it love. he writes songs about his struggle with faith aswell.
amasing | Reviewer: Molly | 3/25/09

a perfect song for the broken hearts to mend | Reviewer: Kobi | 12/24/08
yes its not a sonnet and he probaly didnt intend it for being a sonnet. but if it was or not isnt the point its how true his song is, how true he is, his feelings twards love, and how you grasp the true meaning behind the song. its a beautiful song. my ex-girlfriend likes this song so i decided i would listen to it so i did. first on itunes. he sounded like a tone def frog but when i got the song i listened to it over and over and i got the meaning of it and over that peirod of time i got to like it. LOVELY!!!!!!!!!!!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/18/08
It's not supossed to be perfect! It's not supossed to be a sonnet!
It's a contradiction and that's why it's beautiful. Okay if you didn't know that you should really start to question why you even like this song because you'd be missing the entire meaning and depth.
Conor is brilliant, eberything fits so perfectly it's unreal. Only he can make you feel a thousand emotions with his music. I simply am glad I have found his music, I am honored..and thankful. His music and lyrics express parts in all of us, sad, ironic, disturbed, nostalgic..everything, just lovely.

This song is so touching and means so much. Feelings that I could not put into words, Connor Oberst can. He is truly amazing. He really has a fascinating way of thinking.
Great song. So are all the others. :)
Greatness | Reviewer: Lerto | 11/16/08
I adore this song. It is just awesome. I can´t stop hearing it, but I prefer Saturday as Usual though. Connor Oberst is just a genius, and I cannot stop looking at his incredibly deep lyrics. I mean, he has got really poetic phrases.
I love Bright Eyes

I think it has more sense if it's not a perfect sonnet because he's trying to say that love is not PERFECT!! so, if he would write a perfect sonnet he would be talking about "the fairytales love", but its not like that in reality, so "its a foolish line!"
to the douche bag who said not a perfect sonnet | Reviewer: Grant | 9/18/08
it's part of the song's meaning that it's not. it wouldn't make sense if it was a perfect sonnet. ooh good for you, you know about iambic pentameter with 14 lines. super. but the point is, people think and dream of love as a thing that can be perfect, but as the songly clearly demonstrates, it's a sad and flawed thing, with much beauty, and much passion, hence our dreams.... so a song Called perfect sonnet, that is not a perfect sonnet.. but still a great fuckign song. get it?
awesome.
amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/24/08
like really, thanks to a great friend, I heard this song, and it could possibly have saved my life, I was pretty much ready to give up and she told me about this song... and... ya... now I don't wanna give up anymore

Yeah, the chick underneath me has it right.
It's not a sonnet, no. Although he mentions into the song that he wants to write one.
Everyone who's freaking out and is thinking they know music better then conor oberst should headbutt a bullet.
Just enjoy his music.
