------ performed by Brand New

cox, you're an idiot | Reviewer: tony | 11/5/09

wow bro, you're a fucking dumbass, do you know that? we're not talking about who knows the lyrics best, we're talking about who interprets what out of them, if you think we're posers or whatever, well you're the poser, because you're down-grading everyone. i don't mean to be a dick, i'm actually a peace loving hippie, but you gotta be reasonable sometimes

For what ist worth | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/3/09

At first I heard " and my body it leaks like a sieve" and thought - that's me.

I tried to listen to the lyrics and thought it might be about serial killing.

I looked up the lyrics tonight and saw all of the catty crap instead of actually discussion of how the lyrics make you feel and got disgusted.

I think its about me smoking on a playground.
I think its me growing up.
I think its me taking handouts when I don't want to because I think I should be grown up.

I think its about the fact that as you age you learn but, not fast enough. You will go through some hard shit. You will cry, a lot. You will feel it, a lot. You will go on.

My body it leaks like a sieve.

Then again I think it could also be about a serial killer.

COX...FUCK YOU | Reviewer: ALEX | 12/7/08

Cox you're a fucking faggot.
Since when did God's light shine apon your dumb ass and give you the right to take people's minds away?

Let them think the lyrics mean what they think it might mean.

LET THEM USE THEIR BRAINS.

I'm sure Jesse Lacey created all his songs with his OWN purpose behind them, but doesn't mind the fucking fact that people out there have their own meanings of what his songs could mean. Varieties and varieties. And I'm sure he's not bothered by it one bit, because just as he used his mind, his music is doing its job. It's making people use THEIR heads to find a meaning deeper beyond what the words just say.

So Cox...FUCK YOU. You're dumb as hell.

People don't listen to Brand New to get laid, they listen to it because Brand New WILL ALWAYS BE THE SHIT.

lol um. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/5/08

i've loved this song for years but never actually arrived at my own message behind the lyrics..

i read through all of your "reviews" in search of some insight as to what this song could possibly have been written about. unfortunately, however, those who claim to have a keen "understanding" as to what the song could mean didn't take the time to translate the lyrics for others to read. to me, it seems that past 'reviewers' are too concerned about the frivolities of others' opinions on the matter of what other band this song reminds them of....

SO, for those reviewers who actually feel they can break down this song into something of a meaningful message, please do so. so that curious Brand New listeners such as myself, are able to attach some kind of story or scenario to the words heard in the song.

thanks!

Cox your full of yourself | Reviewer: Ryan | 9/12/08

Don't tell people how to listen to music if your such a genius when it comes to lyrics then explain what this song, and every other brand new song is trying to say.

You wont be able to and thats the beauty of brand new, the message or feeling that you get from the song is different for every person which is what makes brand new so amazing.

So just shut up dude because your review made you look like a arrogant prick.

Grow up. | Reviewer: Carleigh | 8/31/08

"...or any brand new lyrics as that for that matter. dont compare them to the shallow pop lyrics of tbs they have carried tbs and allowed them to exist..."

I personally am not a huge Taking Back Sunday fan myself, but respectively speaking, a "Brand New connoisseur" like you really should't say their lyrics are "shallow pop".
Considering Jesse Lacey was part of TBS for a short time, he had a strong lyrical impact on the group.
And thus, essentially you are bashing the roots of Brand New.
Stfu.

<3 | Reviewer: gina | 3/29/08

this is my absolute FAVORITE song on the deja entendu album. this song isnt even close to taking back sunday, though I can understand where you could say that because taking back sundays first album was a bit like brand new.. but nothing competes to brand new<3

Prove your self...... | Reviewer: Cox | 1/18/08

i really think its pathetic that you kids argue about who undrstands the lyrics best. If you listen to the lyrics for what they say, or if you try to pull an alterior meaning. Either way, music is music, is music. its not a fu$%^$% popularity contest. Know what your talking about be4 you talk. And if you notice the resemblance between tbs and brand new. You must be a F%$^&ing genious. Listen to both of heir first records. and then research both bands beginings. Grow up, and listen to what you love. not what will get you laid.

!@$^#% | Reviewer: lily | 1/12/08

ahahahahah max.
I listen to this song, and I know every word and I listen to it "for what it is" unless you'd like to tell me otherwise, frankie.

Brand new is amazing.
