john nolan, jesse and adam lazzara were all in TBS at the beginning, then john slept with jesses girlfriend, so jesse left the band. their last words were on the phone when jesse said "You're as subtle as a brick on the small of my back so lets end this call and end this conversation" and hung up. those lyrics are now in "seventy times 7" by brand new. then TBS came out with the song "there is no I in team" which is johns side of the story. but the seventy times 7 song is a verse out the bible. the bible says that if you are mad at someone you should not just forgive them once, or seven times, or seventy times, but seventy times seven.
bit of brand new knowledge for you there ;)
but i agree, this song is great. i didnt really listen to the lyrics the first time upon hearing it, but the second time i noticed them and i knew they were about her just wanting sex. i cant say i can relate to this, but all the same, amazing song.

This really gets you thinking...
In my opinion it's about the boy lovin' someone and at first thinking she loves him back, but then he finds out she only want him to have sex with.
When I lost my V I really loved the girl (she was still a V to, we both lost it together), but 2 days after we had sex she told me she wanted to catch up with her best friend who lost her V a week befor...
Used, that is how I felt.
Now to me sex is something that's loose from love - even tho I know it's wrong.
So far I haven't found a girl worth loving and having sex with that matters.
Somethimes -like now- I think about it. This song helps me trying to find some real love...

wow | Reviewer: leia | 8/17/07
when i first heard this song, the lyrics were hard to make out, because of the tone n stuff i thought it was about paranoia or something such. I loved it first i heard it and it made my heart beat faster, now ive read the lyrics i do understand it more and the music goes perfectly with the words, even though im a girl its more or less the same feelings lol ^.^

just a note,
to the first commmenter, reviewer "m":
jesse lacey was never in TBS, you're probably thinking of john nolan.
he's now in a band called straylight run that is equally amazing and pretty underappreciated.
amazing. | Reviewer: m. | 7/12/07
I was a big fan of Jesse Lacey when he was with taking back sunday, and ever since i first heard Brand New's album Your Favorite Weapon I've been a big fan.
This song is incredible as is the entire album.
Can't wait to see them live again.

jesse lacey is a lyrical genius along with vin accardi theyve written some of the most mind blowing underground songs ever... not wanting sex with the wrong person is a completely new topic and i cant pick too many bands who've written songs about it.. definately a favourite..

Greatness | Reviewer: Betsy Snow | 6/10/07
This song is awesome. I'm always telling my sister that if I had to choose one word to describe it it'd be: Sex. That's it, just sex. I mean the band chooses a fast hushed voice the beat itself is fast and just, that it what it's theme is. Its theme is the emotional and psychological toll sex takes on a person. The video is great too. It's a shame I'm not more into their music, though.
