A Meaningful Song | Reviewer: Andrew B. Curtis | 3/8/2006
This song, by Brand New, starts out slowly at the beginning, but speeds up as it progresses. Unlike most “emo” music, the song never reaches the screaming part. The tone to this song is very sad, and depressed.
In this song, I believe that the artist is venting his feelings for a girl that he loves. It is written as if it were to her. How the artist goes about the story is rather unique. He starts out by telling her that he is from heaven, and that there is no one else in the world like him. He states that he is all she’s ever wanted, but in a manner that it seems like he may be the perfect guy for her, but he’s not attractive or some other unknown thing is preventing them from being together.
Then the song takes a change, suddenly it doesn’t seem directed to her, it seems more directed to the listener, or to himself. He tells us that he hopes that his own failure to be with this girl he loves, will remind us that we should be happy with the ones we are with now. He shows us what it’s like to be heartbroken, and depressed because we cannot be with the one’s we wish to be. He’s says “ Every line is about, who I don’t wanna write about anymore” as if to remind us again, that even when he try’s to get her off his mind, nothing will work. He tells us that holding a grudge against someone is bad because it will affect everyone in the situation. It will only start a controversy within everyone, and then everyone has something to fight about, and no one will drop it. Then he reminds us about her, tells us how he just wants to believe that there is a way for him to be with her.
In the next phase of the song, the artist says the good things about them that prevented the relationship from working, he says “We are entirely to smooth, we admit to the truth, we are the best at what we do.” Next the author seems to belittle her, telling her that he cares enough about her to write down all these meaningful lyrics, but she still holds a grudge. Then he tells her that if she would only let it go, how graceful and happy they can both be, and how she pays that as a price for holding this grudge, and is standing alone, with bad friends. He says “this is the rise and the fall” to point out, she can still make a decision. He just wants to be with her.

This is one of my favorite songs. The energy put into it is amazing. Great if you used to love someone and was seriously hurt by them...
I think in decimals and dollars.. | Reviewer: Hanah | 11/11/2005
This song is amazing. Not much talent in the guitarist, but what can ya do? The lyrics are pretty good.. Not very different to most 'emocore' songs.. As it progresses it gets more intense but it doesn't go into that trashy screamo sh'it.

One of my favourite songs on the album.love the lyrics.First Line. ''Im heaven sent,Don't you dare forget''.bass is simple, almost eerie at the beginning.but effective.angst ridden lyrics..and the song becoming more upbeat as it progresses, makes this song really fantabulous.<3 XXX
