Love it way too much for my own good. Loved the lyrics then heard the song and new it was better with the music too.

Even better music video | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/1/07

Nothing new to what's already been said, but the music video to this song is just as amazing as the song. As said it does really relate to teens in a roll reversal where the guy is being used, its an awesome song

There's two ways to look at this song.

1 - A catchy and fast-paced song, nicely aggressive and bouncy. A good little emo/post-hardcore number. Memorable, and an excellent example of a genre that is often misinterpreted. This was my initial impression of the song.

2 - Sit down and have a proper listen-to and read-of the lyrics, like you have coming here presumably.

He doesn't really want sex, not like this.

As a guy, you get brought up in this world revolving around it. There's an attitude you're meant to have. Even if you're a nice, respectful and sensitive guy, in some way or form you're meant to be a stud or a pimp or some such crap.

You end up with a girl. Maybe you really like her, maybe not. Then comes the sex. It's been built up into the biggest thing. It's what's being a guy (and a young man/teenager in particular) is all about. You're nervous. Maybe you don't really want it. Something feels wrong, feels uncomfortable, but you go through with it because it's what you're meant to do. And even worse, you don't want to disappoint her, make her feel bad, let yourself down, and not feel like a "man".

So you have sex with her. And what does that do to you? This act, that's meant to be the focus of your life, is a piece of crap that made you feel sick.

Brand New aren't talking about STDs. They're not talking about role-reversal, or the guy being taking advantage of. Neither is it about masculinity, or anything to do with gender.

Nearly every philosophy and school of thought in the world says a man should be powerful, potent, and promiscuous.

This song says - "Ok. But at what cost?"

undeniable...its amazing. | Reviewer: alison ex | 5/19/07

brand new... synonomous with amazing, unique, original.

sic trans is the fan's song.

i recently attended one of their shows, and no song except perhaps Tatou caused more screaming, pushing or anything.

the song has meaning, orginality, and awe-stricking good vocals. but its the lyrics that make it the best.

no one in this world can beat Jesse Lacey in lyrical perfection. & thats a fact.

love to all the brand new fans out there-

perfection | Reviewer: caitlin | 5/20/07

his soothing voice mixed with the fast pace instantly caught my attention but as i started to listen, i started to luv the song more and more. i acctually understood it the first time i listened and kept it on repeat 4 at least 3 weeks = D! they cleverly express the awful feeling of being used that some ppl can relate to all to well. altogether this song is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing song. What I love best is how they've wrapped the message into every part of the song: the beat, the delivery of the verses - quick and nervous, little touches like the heavy breathing after "He is gasping for air" and especially the LYRICS. Even if you're just catching phrases, they're so perfectly worded that what you do hear slams you and you want to listen to it over and over until you know every word. I love that they don't compromise by slowing things down, but simply lay it straight, unapologetic and force you to take it all at once. And the message? Not your typical angst song but even more poignant because no ever sings about this. They've twisted the cliche - I love it!
