"Gyp, the Cat" is nearly a twin to Mack the Knife. They share the same simple strumming beginning; both build to a rousing finish; and both tell the story of a ne'er do well with hip names. Yet somehow Mack got famous and Gyp was largely lost to history. In fact, they both share identical meter and tempo. Try singing one over the other and you'll see what I'm talking about. Lyrically, I think I actually prefer Gyp to Mack. The rhymes are more fun and the song has a more playful quality to it. Either way, how can you go wrong? Thanks to Rhett for submitting the review.
