------ performed by Bob Marley
The war is not over | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/28/09
You brethrens are mis'overstanding' the message and the history. Nesta Marley is preaching the truth, Africa needs to be liberated. When he is taling about "Brother you're right!!", he is talking about the man who invited him to Zimbabwe's independence inaguration--Comrade Robert Mugabe. Leaders like Mugabe are actually doing what needs to be done in Africa. Livicating themselves for the cause of the African People, chanting down Babylon and leading us to the gates of Zion.
Nearly 30 years later and zimbabwe is worse off than ever | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/30/09
Long live Bob Marley, a true revolutionary for breeding hope in his people and belief in their human rights without hate and condemnation. How truly, truly sad the state that Zimbabwe is in now. Mugabe, you evil genocidic pig, one day you will see justice and one day Zimbabwe, hopefully you will see independence and a future for your children. Lumumba, spread it to all you know, USE A CONDOM, oh, and having a shower really won't save you, be careful of the lies you are told, it's your life at stake. Peace brothers
Long live Mugabe | Reviewer: Lumumba | 7/14/08
Long live BoB and the Wailers.Mugabe is a real revolutionary. The land reform is long due.South Afrika should by now have done the same, The land is zimbabwean, not european. The reason the racist european want the land, is so that they can further poison us africans , like they have deliberately infected us with H.I.V. MUgabe! the heavens are open for you, you are indeed saving many lives....in the words of Lumumba... LONG LIVE AFRIKA, SADC AND THE AFRICAN UNION.

"Every man gotta right to decide his, own destiny." Very powerful words and ones to live by. Dont let anyone tell you how to live your life, our time on earth is short, take it by the hands and live free and die hard.
The Lyrics still apply | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/15/07
Black or white in Zimbabwe - we're all africans. After all, Ian Smith was a fourth generation Zimbabwean while R. Mugabe is only half-Zimbabwean as his father came from Malawi. It's all just the squabbles of Babylon.
May these lyrics give the people of Zimbabwe the strength to stand up against tyranny and oppression - for the future of Zimbabwe, for blacks and whites alike.
The struggle continues | Reviewer: Dr Kwame Osei, Nottingham | 11/27/07
The opening lines of this great song are still very powerful as it says to the western powers especially Britian and The United States who still believe that the Afrikan is genetically infferior, that every man has a right to decide his own destiny.
In charting our owen destiny it has been essential to take back our land that was stolen lock, stock and barrel by those white imperialists and thier descendants who did not and still not give a jot for the Afrikans' right of self determnination. this act done by Mugabe has resulted in a ferocious onslaught by the bias and anti-Afrikan media who are selective in thier historical analysis of the country and wittingly forget that the so-called land that whites occupy is in fact STOLEN land that BELONGS to Afrikan people. Becuase as i said white folks genrally but thier ruling class elite are still of the imperialist viewpoint that the Afrikan is incapable of managing his own affairs, they, the white world have hoodwinked the world via thier racist media with instatiable propaganda to blind the masses of the people and secondly imposed economic sanctions that has resulted in a virtual collaspe of the economy which has created choas and confusion. And these western racists have the audacity to say that see, the Afrikan man can't run his country when it is these same western/white vipers who have used the econmic order which they control to cripple the economy of Zimbabwe. despite this our people will NOT surrender to white propaganda and economic sanctions because zim is no longer a white colony but a free country and at least Mugabe was elected by the people unlike Ian Smith and a certain republican in the US who in 2004 did what we all know what happened.
so as Bob entreats us Afrikan people until Zimbabwe is free if these shackles imposed by the West we gonna fight, we'll have to fight, fight for our rights.
PS: Many White/Caucasian and Afrikan people are not aware of the history of Zimbabwe and the role that white people like facist Cecil Rhodes played in getting zim to where it is today.
History is destiny | Reviewer: ebygum | 9/21/07
This song was sung at the liberation concert Bob gave at Zimbabwe's independence. It has lain forgotten on an obscure album, that has gone out of print and a vide that you can get in chunks on youtube. It still has the power to inspire, and should be heard again by the people of Zimbabwe, now that Babylon wears a Black face. Though more personal to a country than his "Get up, Stand up." which is more known and more generic to people all over the world, this song will always have a place in the heart's of Zimbabweans who saw independence, and now has a very ironic meaning, especially to those "Black Empowerers" and some Rastafarians who still worship Mugabe as a hero, despite falling from grace and becoming the power that the song now rails against for seeing who are the "real revolutionaries.
sadness | Reviewer: brother andrew | 5/18/07
My heart goes out for the innocent of Zimbabwe. Bob Marley was an inspirational Prophet who wanted truth to be told and injustices to stop. How dare the U.N exploit Mugabe in allowing him to chair the U.N body that promotes 'economic progress'. Might as well give Stalin or Idi Amin the Nobel Peace prize.
So True | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/11/05
Its sad that the men who in this song were the real revolutionaries turned out to be mercinaries raping and pillaging their brethren for their own gain
