God? | Reviewer: sean salvador | 1/25/08
the emancipate from mental slavery bit is a quote from Marcus Garvey (yes, the racist Klu Klux Klan tit). Doesnt stop it from being a good lyric though.
Oh also, Ian, which god is that? King Hailey Salassie I by any chance? No, didnt think so.
Redeem Yourselves | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/27/07
Bob uses timeless adage and assures the audience peace and freedom are attainable. Do not close your eyes to what is potential, including humanity. Man is not a stagnant force; he creates his own heaven and hell, and he creates his gods as his shepherd. We must make sure to create our gods wisely.

This song is testimony that we are slaves to our own mind. And it also brings to light the fact that only God can save us, not man.

This is great song by a great singer and writer. It allows us to know what time it is and what to do about it. We have to keep our eyes on God - not man.

Bob Marley will always a be a great preahcer, and he displays that in this song. This has always been one of my favorite songs since the very 1st time that I heard it. Its a very moving song and one that every soul on earth should listen to.

this song is great, a story we can all learn from. This lines "emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds" I find particulary moving.
