My Life | Reviewer: Nicole | 3/25/08

This song has such profound effect on my life lately. I truly listened to the lyrics one night, and it explains my problem. I should slow down, and cherish the time i have, because my life is waiting on me. It is a beautiful thing to live in, this life of ours.

Vienna- | Reviewer: Alicex | 3/24/08

I've loved this song for quite a while now and every time I listen to it it makes me feel really good. And then I started reading some of the other reviews people have been writing so I decided to read the lyrics(normally just listen to them) and they made me cry. This song is soo beautiful and I've only just fully realised it :S !

What the song means | Reviewer: Gillian | 3/11/08

This song is about when he took a trip to Austria to visit his dad and saw an old women in the street sweeping. He told his dad "Thats wroung, shes an elderly women, she shouldn't have to do that" and his dad said "No, its right. We believe that everyone should be at use and not just sitting around"

Amazing | Reviewer: ST | 2/22/08

This song has more effect on me personally than any other song I've heard. I'm young (freshman in college), and I have the tendency to go too fast and try to do too much to the point where I've actually had health problems due to not taking enough time to take care of myself. Hearing this song always reminds me to slow down. It's a beautiful song with some of the most poignant lyrics I've ever heard, and it's helped me more than any other song.

hope | Reviewer: mctsubi | 12/30/07

i just got off the phone with a friend who's going through a hard break up. there wasn't much that i could say to her at her current state. it's hard as a friend to see someone you care about being so hard on herself. i think everyone needs to give him/herself a breather every once in a while to keep the world going back in a sane order. i just sent her this song after the conversation ended and hopes that it helps her like the way it helped me during the lowest of times.

Yeah | Reviewer: Devin | 12/2/07

If you listen to the greatest hits volume 4, billy explains that in vienna even the elder people have a job to do in society and they still work and feel useful in the society. He also says he writes it for his dad.

Awesome song.

For Joel's Father | Reviewer: Randy | 11/24/07

YEARS AGO I ended up on the same plane as Billy Joel. We were flying from Colorado to NY. (He was with Christy Brinkley at the time). I got to talk to him for awhile (I'm from Long Island and I'm a standup comedian) I said, "I know you will think this is geeky, but I carry the words to Vienna in my wallet." (I pulled it out to show him. It stop him in his tracks. He told me he wrote the song for his father. I thanked him and told him the song saved my life a couple of times. When we got off the plane, and his people got his luggage, he came over to me, wished me good luck and thanked ME for the Vienna conversation. (I'm 49 now...and just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye).

Why Vienna | Reviewer: Phil | 11/20/07

In answer to Sally, I think its from the saying 'See Vienna and die'. Figuratively speaking you've got plenty of time to see Vienna. Don't be in such a hurry to kill yourself. Chill out! I think that's the message :)

A reminder from my brother | Reviewer: Stevielee | 11/16/07

I'm always busy, when I was a little girl, correction a little tomboy, I was always in a hurry. And now, it still the same. So few months ago my brother send me this song on email and he include the lyrics, when I read it, I have to thank him, to remind me to enjoy life more and to take more time off instead of spend it on the office, business trips and so on. Thanks Ron, love ya

Very Powerful Song | Reviewer: DJ Particle | 9/28/07

This song speaks to me so much.... I can rarely hear it without crying. Makes me look back on my own life. Sometimes I wonder if I've rushed aspects of my life now and then.

The song is originally from "The Stranger" album, 1977 I believe.
