I grew up with my mother's music... all generations. I can literally listen to anything, but from a young age, I began to love Billy Joel and Huey Louis and this genre of music. The first times I heard this song,it was just a catchy tune; emotionally performed, but I didn't listen to the words. I mean, come on... I was like 4! I recently re-heard (hehe, now I'm making words up) this song... and realized that I am that woman. I don't intentionally hurt... I cut deeply through simple carelessness, lack of attention... I laugh about it rather than cry. I take care of myself, I never give out, I never give in. I bring out the best and the worst you can be, because I am so in tune with myself and with you that you can't help the passion inside you, good or bad. I can ask for the truth but I'll never believe; that's the only part that's not true. It's an exaggeration of the truth, perhaps; mistrust comes from pain. Trained response. Is this all women? Although I never thought we would be anything more than friends, I carelessly fell in love with this woman, but that love wasn't reciprocated. We had some good times together just as friends without the need for any physical love. Unfortunately, to my deepest regret I let her down and we parted.
