Damn... | Reviewer: Ryan | 4/24/13

I dated a girl for 8 years. She left me for somebody else without a 2nd thought. This happened recently. I never heard about this song, but one of my friends sent me the name and I decided to check it out. I couldn't figure out how I felt about her, ofcourse angry and upset and all the common feelings associated with this type of situation. This song though,it fits my emotions toward her like it was tailor made. I like how he says that no matter how much she makes you suffer, you will always love her no matter what. He says that you cannot stop loving someone if you truly loved them to begin with. He says that even though she put you through hell and back, you still love her and you don't see all her flaws. To you she is perfect, even though she hurts you. This song is not about women,or a woman. This song is about how he sees HIS woman, the one that hurt him and inspired this song. I don't know this for a fact, this is the first time I ever heard about Billy Joel, but I'm pretty sure. Don't take my word for it though, google it. I am 18 years old,and this song really helped me understand my emotions

She's Always A Woman | Reviewer: Broken | 2/14/13

I dated a girl for 3 months and this was her favorite Billy Joel song...now I know why. I never really listened to the lyrics much, now that I have read them, they are this girl to a tee! OMFG...how scary and what hell I went through. This girl was psychotic...her train left the station but it didn't go anywhere...and she took me for the rollercoaster ride...and it was always in a circle. Absolute insanity!! The thing is you don't know it is happening to you until after the fact. Run for the hills boys if you find her contradicting herself constantly...it's not normal. If she is gorgeous...look away, it's a trap!!

True to life Portrait of today's women | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/15/12

Billy Joel's song is a masterpiece of sarcasm about the nature of women. For me, the song poigantly expresses what makes women twerps, that is, self-centered, egotistical, narcissistic, and ruthlessly selfish. They use the power of their sexuality to reward men who meet their laundry list of specifications, and bend to their will. They punish those who don't comply with their wishes and wants by denying them sexual favors. Any man who considers a woman as soft hearted, fragile or sensitive is in for great pain. Lastly, women establish a class system among themselves, and the men who they believe are not deserving of them. This class system is reified everyday by the quality of their dress, looks, and panache However, you can dress an ape in Verace, Gucci, and Prada, but it is still an ape. Hats off to Billy Joel for creating a portrait of women which they would never admit as true or accurate

Love the song. Whenever it is performed, I immediately think that magic is being used to "hypnotise" the audience as the audience seems to be in some sort of "trance".
The words of the song are so strong and deep + the voice of Billy Joel in the song recording sounds so emotional that whenever I listen to the song, I can imagine myself in a room with Billy Joel telling me all these things about "this woman".
An amazing and powerful song.

True Man | Reviewer: zyque | 10/17/12

Well, I really don’t exactly know. I have really no experiences with this kind of things. Yes, it does puzzle me…a lot. But it makes me wonder also that no matter how or what, love conquers all. Loving a person entails all: Good and bad. You can’t just neglect a person you love when you see the bad side of her. If you do, that might not be love after all. Sacrifice and compromise is part of love. Without these ingredients, love will lose its taste and substance. I actually admire how Billy Joel held on to his feeling of love for the girl depicted on this song he wrote. He was always wounded at the time of their relationship yet he never did complain. In the end, the girl still left her bleeding. But as according to him, “She’s always a woman to me.” I think that’s who and what a true man is, loving a woman. A man’s weakness is always seeing her woman in pain, that no matter what it takes him, he’s always there to ease her pain. Love can be painful and love can be rude, but love can be a virtue if you know how to keep hold.

Really She'll Always Be A Woman | Reviewer: anncient | 10/11/12

I luv this song. When I was small I was hearing this song & it gives me a beautiful feeling about being a woman (Laughs). This song simply tells how frustrating at times a woman could be for a man. But that was how a woman, & man just loves her for her vanity...

Grinning that silly grin here Hahaha.

not a woman | Reviewer: Edwin | 9/6/12

I would like to make the suggestion that although most people think he is singing about a woman. That he is singing about woman in general and not about one particularly woman. This does not imply that everthing in the song applies to every woman, but some aplly to some woman.

Classic 70's love song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/5/12

This was one of my favorite songs when I was in college. The image of the "classic bitch" was an admired one at the time and the woman described in the song fits the image to a tee. She is intelligent, socially adept, beautiful and confident. It is my understanding that the song was about a woman Billy Joel once dated who was a lawyer. This would explain the final verse: "She can't be convicted, she's earned her degree."
Billy Joel is to be admired as one of those rare performers who is also a great composer and an outstanding lyricist. This song is reminiscent of the song from the musical, "Camelot", called "How to Handle a Woman" in the advice it gives to the listener which is to love her. It takes a kind of true love to know someone well with all their foibles and faults and not want to change a thing about her.

This song is a true masterpeice. It tells of a man who is deeply in love with a girl who just left him for another. The man is describing his love to her *new* lover. He tells him her faults and her traits. He tells him out of respect, how she acts and percieves things.

This song is a work of art.

Not Fair | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/15/11

You guys are being totally mean to women by saying we misstreat you and are always humiliating you by sharing our feelings after a relationship. The truth is we are a total mess after we break-up. We get that guys have feelings to and get hurt (physicaly and emotionaly.) All I'm getting from your reviews is that all women do is tell about their jerks of ex-boyfriends when they break-up

Just a Woman | Reviewer: redandblue | 11/8/11

Well I don't know about the "cuts you and laughs while you're bleeding" part of the song, but I think the rest of it is accurate about many women. I think many of you on here are over-analyzing the song, either that, or you've obviously never been married, or married for long. Most women do have "two sides," only meaning they can be angry, passionate, vulnerable, stubborn, and prideful (all elements of this song) yet they can also be sweet, kind, admirable, and nurturing. And yes, women do change their minds a lot! Women really do bring out the best and worst in their male mates, and I think only people who truly love each other in long-term relationships realize this.

Meaning? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/6/11

To me this songs talks about the fact that when you are in love with someone you start to enjoy her faults as much as her qualities, therefore the "she is always a woman to me". Just my opinion... And if you are really in love you can survive her faults.... And hope she can survive yours…

you sir, have fallen in love | Reviewer: Christiane | 10/20/11

Maybe that girl has a dose of Gemini in her. Probably having a dual nature a personality that is unbearable and cursing at times and the other so charming and lovable-you will be spell-bounded. Whatever she might be, its just that the man have fallen for that girl. And whatever faults she may have-he accepted, because his love is so strong that it encompasses the negative traits of that person and sees a woman with strength, conviction, intelligence, independence or even have fallen simply because of the girl's smile, eyes. Can't blame him-he fell, cause in his eyes, she's always a woman.
