The Reviews about Only The Good Die Young (page 8/ 10)
------ performed by Billy Joel

oh really | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/13/07

You're telling me the song is not at all about losing virginity... when after all the names he could have chosen he chose VIRGINia. I wont even bother getting into the other l yrics. Learn to think a little deeper.

Taking the song literally is silly | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/7/07

In response to other negative reviews, Billy does not mean that the "good" people literally die young, only that they metaphorically die, in the sense of the Braveheart line "Everyone dies but not everyone truly lives" In that if you live your life under the totally stifling rules of being a Catholic nun, you miss out on many exciting and reasonable things that can make life worth living. I'm not referring to the ten commandments(which are fine for the most part), but the extreme restrictions of being a nun under the Catholic system. That system itself is changing slowly, as many convents now accept non-virgins as members. However, you still have to live a very restricted life to be a nun, which is the literal point of the song, although it also refers to the loss of virginity.

THIS SONG KICKS ASS | Reviewer: J.Steez | 6/28/07

you guys are gettin' a lil too caught up in this... the song is trying to say EXACTLY what it says.. don't shape your young life around someone else's expectations! GO INSANE, have fun, do stupid shit that people think you shouldn't... when you're "grown-up" it won't matter that you "didn't come home for curfew", so just live it up; enjoy yourself. =]

Your kidding me | Reviewer: Paige | 6/26/07

Oh my fucking god, I've been raised around Billy Joel, when I was like, five, my favorite song was 'We Didn't Strt the Fire'. Then again, I did think it was about The Burring Bush...
Anyways, I love this song, it kicks ass.

God, you people are dumbasses... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/26/07

This song is not about loosing your fucking virginity. Idiots. And only the good do die young, if you can't live your life because you're too afraid of breaking rules then you might as well be dead. Read the fucking lyrics...

another rip on catholics | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/26/07

yep, here it is again, pop culture attacking Catholic Church and morality in general. all hail relativism and sin now repent later mentality. the tune is good, but his lyrics are terrible

... | Reviewer: T | 6/22/07

I really don't care what ya'll say about this song but it has awsome music and amazing lyrics i don't really care what the meaning is, it's still a good and popular song.

DUH. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/6/07

This song is not about virginity or death. Don't post anything if you don't know what the Hell you're talking about.

This song, performed wonderfully by Billy Joel, is about how being Catholic isn't all its made out to be. The line "Only the Good Die Young" refers to how only the "good," or people who aren't religious, die without their minds unchanged and their lives unlimited and lived to the fullest.
