The Reviews about Goodnight Saigon (page 4/ 4)
------ performed by Billy Joel

Not a bad song | Reviewer: Nash | 12/28/05

I always saw this song as kind of a lament. It contains all the lyrics and the music works well. If you want to grieve the war then this song is absolutely perfect. For me personally the change in music and beat for "And we would all go down together" disrupted the tone that the rest of the song set. But I'm sure most people didn't see it that way. Overall it is well done. It is what it is meant to be.

Thank You Vietnam Veterans | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/20/05

I am 48 yrs old and grew up in the time of the Vietnam Conflict This song epotimizes the struggle our soldiers faced everyday of that war and I listen to it periodically to remind me of the time in history. I ask that you ask everyone the age of 50 or more if they served there and if they did then Please Thank Them for thier selfless sacrifice for you.

Very poignant lyrics | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/2/05

I, too, was quite young (roughly 15) when I heard the lyrics for the first time. It's been 20 years since I read and learned the lyrics and every few years since then, the lyrics come to mind, especially in years of war like now. I sympathize with and appreciate those who serve and protect Americans, as a result. The lyrics are extemely poignant. I never understood why this song never became more popular and widespread. It seems that few people have ever heard it. Billy Joel's best song!

Saddest song! | Reviewer: Jessica | 8/31/05

I am a fourteen year ol girl with a heart for the 'oldies', and this song captures my heart every single time it is played. The vocals are amazing, the music is perfect, but the lyrics are what really hit home. This song could not make anyone more aware of what people sacrificed and felt in the war, and everyone should hear this song. This song is more than I could ever hope for. It has opened my eyes to how the poor men felt, giving up their young lives. It expresses the emotion, the hurt, the confidence, the sadness. I'd give this song, if it had to be rated out of ten, 11/10... possibly higher! This is an amazing song adn I hope it opens others eyes as much as it opened mine!
