u r an idiot! | Reviewer: john | 5/30/11
it's lie of the heart,it's lie of the mind,it'slie of the soul ect!your job is to print the words to the song, not guess what they are.groups like u are rapidly becoming the rule rather that the exception, it's sad and thats just "A Matter of Truth".
Trust is an issue | Reviewer: Kinley | 11/6/09
Great song and I love the lyrics. I have trust issues. I have trusted and got burned, so how do I go about trusting again? It always a matter of trust, once broken can never be mended to the same degree!

The story of the turtle and the scorpion | Reviewer: Michael | 12/12/08
A lot of good intentions and love and wisdom in this song. I like the noble side of it and the courage to love and to give. However, I disagree with the following.
1) Trust cannot be asked and can only be built over time. If the person does not have trust, you cannot ask him/her to give you trust, and the less that person will trust you.
2) If you cannot provide a condition/environment for that person to stay away from getting hurt, "recover when another belief is betrayed", how do you expect trust?
3) The strive for unconditioned love is good, but the prospect of walking away like a fool or a king does not seem so unconditioned; nor is it true that your lover has nothing to lose when you walked out; the fear of you leaving her one day; and again why should she trust?
4) Making sacrifices for the person you love is good, but it seems there is no wisdom of how sacrifices are made; Why would you make sacrifices to support your loved ones to hurt people, whether it's you or someone else? Not even a mother would love her child that way. She will never grow out of her problems. And uttimately it's destructive to you and her. Unconditioned love does not equate to blind love.
5) It seems you are not blaming, but aren't you just implying to her that the whole relationship does not work because entirely of her insecurity? You could be right, but an insecured person will take this as a judgement, blame other than anything else. And you want that person to trust?
I do feel sad about them both.
SHUT UP | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/21/08
I LIKED THE VIDEO TO THIS. HE JUST PLAYED AND SEVERAL PEOPLE JUST SHOWED UP AND ENJOYED IT. THE FUNNY PART WAS HEARING THE OLD BATTLEAXE SCREAM SHUT-UP FROM HER WINDOW, NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. IM SURE IT WAS A SET-UP FOR THE VIDEO, BUT IT GOES TO PROOVE THERE IS ALWAYS A CRITIC.
Always a classic! | Reviewer: Chris | 9/14/08
This song is a classic tune by Billy Joel! The lyrics are so true! I am sending these lyrics to a girl that is having trust issues because of previous relationships!
Billy Joel is one of the best songwriters around! His songs will never go out of date.
amazing | Reviewer: Elle | 8/12/08
This is, in my opinion, one of the best songs Billy Joel has written.
My favourite part is:
"This time you've got nothing to lose
You can take it, you can leave it, whatever you choose
I won't hold back anything
And I'll walk away a fool or a King"
fab song | Reviewer: wolf | 1/12/08

Too young ? Too old ? | Reviewer: Frank Elliott | 9/5/07
I've been a fan of B.J. since turnstiles[76]. Too many great songs to pick only one but if you twist my arm I would have to select "Just the way you are", followed close in second place by 50 other songs by b.j. By the way you're never too old or young to recognize and enjoy superb quality. Like a good wine, it improves with age. So keep it comin' Billy boy. P.S.was only! born in 1937.
Wow | Reviewer: KT | 6/13/07
Im 24 and was raised on Billy Joel....the man is the epitome of what a singer/songwriter should be, and yes he is old, but age does not define genius and this man is a certifiable one...his music has moved me since i was 7 and will continue to do so untill i die.
Live version is amazing! | Reviewer: Dione Nahirnick | 6/12/07
The live version of this song from "12 Gardens" makes my heart ache...I have always loved this song but hearing him perform it live is another matter entirely

Real-Simple- Perfect lyrics | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/31/07
Just thinking about this song! Fantastic lyrics! Billy Joel is one of the best lyricists ever, with great, poignant, intelligent rhymes that are down to earth and relevant without running off into stream of consciousness nonense that Dylan and early Springsteen often do. Though I love them all. Billy Joel unfortunately got so overrated at one point that he is now underrated and dismissed by so many music fans. Tis' a pity!
Wish I saw him live. | Reviewer: Brian | 5/13/07
Big Billy Joel fan . I am 27 , I don't think I am too old. lol. Always liked his music. Recently walked away the fool when i didnt hold back anything.
When I was younger I always went for the performers who can actually sing ,tell a message, who can perform live. I wish music can go back to those days
