its kinda sad 4 me cause im in 7th grade and all the other kids make fun of me for listin to stuff like this... this is defently one of the songs thatll probly be in all our hearts i love its so much it makes me happy and deapressed at the same time but mostly happy
no ebow in that (fantastic) song... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/28/09
tho Big Country did use a lot of ebow ("Where the Rose is Sown" is a prime example of Big COuntry's ebow use...listen to the break). the main tool used for the "bagpipe" sound was the MXR M-129 Pitch Transposer.
and Big Country was so *not* a "one-hit" band! yeah, one hit in the U.S..."In a Big Country" hit #17 in the States. "Fields of Fire" and "Wonderland" reached #52 and #86, respectively, in the U.S.
however, Big Country were all over the British charts. so yeah, one hit in the U.S., but international fame. i'll take the latter any day.
cheers...

Bagpipes | Reviewer: Liz | 4/16/09
Hey Nathan, those aren't bagpipes. That's the guitar! which only goes to show how original and creative they really are. I'd even go as far as to say that they're one of the best bands of all times... yeah, I said it. BEST BAND EVER.

I am 28 years old and heard In A Big Country for the first time last week. Let me tell yeah the song rocks and it brings a smile to my face because the lyrics are so positive, we need more positive things in songs instead of the depressing songs.
Classic Rock. | Reviewer: Lee Chapa | 1/21/08
When I was young, I was a sad kid. My parents didn't listen to rock. Then one day some high school teen was playing a song in his '67 Camero. I asked who was that singing? Apparently I was deprived, he said. Ever since then I've been listening to rock. All kinds. Why listen to sad songs? "In A Big Country" is one of those songs that make you want to sing. It makes your spirit fly. BIG COUNTRY. "ROCK ON!"

Best live band ever. So underrated it's not even funny. These guys are class. Stuart, you are sorely missed. BTW-- It's an e-bow, not bagpipes. Please, if you liked In a Big Country, listen to the rest. It will blow your mind. Youtube's a good start. RIP Stu. Love you.
Still in the New Millenium | Reviewer: tejanotx@sbcglobal.net | 10/4/07
This song has achieved grocery store status in the new millenium. It is one of those songs I have heard the chorus to forever but never knew the name of the song...and finally decided to investigate what in blazes this song sounded like from beginning to end.
The chorus is catchy enough to remember, earning itself a place in the annals of elevator and grocery store songs you sort of remember.....
I love this song! | Reviewer: Julia | 9/13/07
This one of the greatest songs ever. Excellent music and fabulous lyrics - Big Country is bopth light and profound. One of my favorite songs, in fact, I'm listening to it right now
