I loved them so much I went out and got a tape Endless Summer. Little did I know my mother had this as a 33. Needles to say this is my mother's favorite song and my mother's too. She told me that Don't Worry Baby was the b-side to Help Me Rhonda when she had the 45. This song is very sweet. I barely understood the words but wow the lyrics are very special. I now have Endless Summer on my iPod and never really listened to the guitar. The guitar tracks make these songs worth listening to. This is one truly special song. I much preferred hearing him sing leads rather than Mike Love and his nasally somewhat off key voice. It doesn't matter much that the only lines worth listening to are the first few that some up everyone's insecurity (it's been building up .....things bound to go wrong)...as most pop lyrics are banal anyway. But it's the incredible build up and sustained tension in the chorus melody that puts it in a class of its own...plus its "wall of sound" start. There are other great Beachboys songs -- and far happier ones --- but none of them have the technical complexity and emotional pull that this one has. Brian Wilson is a sensitive and flawed genius...but that's the cost of a song like this. Thank you.
