I got into them as soon as city of evil was released. I got the free promo sticker from hot topic before the album even hit the stores. After listening to the album over and over, I ventured back. I've loved them ever since. The last two lines repeated over the song are amazing. Really deep.
I heard the new album is supposed to be going back towards their roots. Is this true?

love it | Reviewer: Ryan Beegle | 5/22/09
when matt sing the part at the "clouds swallow the moon, and im alone. thinking good times, and why'd they go?" is probably the best verse ive ever heard because matt gets deep and still keeps the hardcore action type stuff with the song

this is sounding the seventh trumpet's best song. I love how they describe the way it is at night. sounding the seventh trumpet and waking the fallen are the most scream-o albums i've heard!!!! it is fucking awsome!!! we come out at night is the most hard core song from this band. but still my favorite song from them will always be beast and the harlot!!!!!

I simply love this song. Everything about it is amazing. Especially the way it's written. I think Kyle said it best, not very many people can scream a song without ruining it, and I think the screaming in this song just makes it seem so much more.... emotional,

They dont scream this hardcore but when he does he is one of the few that can do it without trashing the song. And the whole badn is fucking amazing M shadows, Synster Gates, Johnny Christ, Zacky Vengence, and the Rev are amazing prefromers and if you start listnening to them seeing them live is amazing as well

A great song, and yes he could be a poet Mark. Thankfully he decided to be a real man instead and make awesome music.
Note to Avenged Sevenfold newbies- it may take a while to get used to, but once you can hear past the screaming, you'll LOVE THEM.

A Blunted Approach | Reviewer: Mark Hogg | 10/13/07
The imagery is beautiful and the description of character is deep; Matt Shadows has got introspection down to a tee and his ability to write shines clearly here. Exemplary.
