When I listen to this song, it reminds me of my mother who passed away 4 years ago, because she had a good number of years' battle with alcoholism. It's awesome, because the first verse is sadness; the way that the guitar is played (slowly, softly) and the vocals are soft, with lyrics that speak of sadness.

When the 2nd verse comes in, it's meant to convey anger, and it does that so well. It conveys anger towards the person the song is directed towards, because the person it's directed towards is literally killing themselves whilst the singer watches; unable to do anything about it.

Lastly, the song goes back to being soft in the 3rd verse, but the vocals are also strong, which shows a strong sense of hope towards the person that the song is written about (that they may have given up their habits and on the way to becoming better).

a7x definately has the best lyrics of any band; they continue to amaze me!
aside from lyrics, they put effort into making the instrumental value of the songs strong, too, which is something more i adore about avenged sevenfold.

This and second heartbeat are my two fav songs by A7x. They both really speak to me. This song is basically how my life is going and describes my ex that i dated for 20 months and the road she is taking. Sometimes i want to sing this song to make my life happier, so just wanna say kudos to A7x they are the worlds best band ever!!!

this song is...wooow i can't describe it...it's really powerful,M.Shadows vocals are incredible,but that's a bit bad that he sings this way on the 2° part,it blasts the poetry of the song :( and the end is incredible :)

This is my favorite song by A7X! its cool cuz its like a 3 part epic. 7 minutes long! the first part is all acoustic and soft singing, then part 2 is screaming and distorted guiatr, part 3 coems back with the melodic singing but keeps the distorted guitar. awesome! the guitar riff at the ends reminds me of buffy the vampire slayer for some reason lol.
