I always imagined the main idea of this to be about a girl and a guy and one cheatin on the other...but when i read sum of ur reviews and go over the lyrics, all of ur ideas make sense, i think it is probably about dime, but with biblical references aswell...like most of ther song. Anyway, spose we couldnt know unless we ask shadows. Amazing song either way. Avenged Sevenfold-best band ever.

this is probably the best song by A7X i mean they are amazing, and a great base/model for my band and others. they have one of the best guitarists ive heard. BUT!!!, this song is their absolute best masterpiece it incorperates the GREAT guitar with a little softer singing

My total opinion... | Reviewer: Brompton Cocktail | 4/6/08

The entire song is going through the POV of both victim and murderer. We're hearing one POV and then another, so this small story can be understood. It's sympathizing with both POVs and giving us a greater understanding of the feelings of both men during that terrible event. This paragraph is the victim:

"I started here so young and helped you get along
Just did it for the love, and people healed through us
Don't live your life in vain, don't take it out on me
You're cracked, so just remember, I'm not your enemy
I don't deserve to fall this way, by a man who felt betrayed"

He's telling the murderer he did not want it to end this way...

But then you have this paragraph which is the murder's POV:

"I felt so down now you're around to rescue me
Every note and every word I'm listening
Sometimes problems seem too deep to take(too hard to take)
Sometimes I cry thinking my future looks so bleak"

So rightfully, we should pity both men. Although Gale was in the wrong, he was mentally ill. Had he been taking medication or getting therapy, he probably would have overcame his illness. But obviously, that failed and he ended up killing somebody that he deep down, idolized and loved.

Well that's my opinion anyway :) I love A7X for writing such songs, showing dedication and support to other people around the world. Regardless if they have connections with religion beliefs, I still think they're a pure and amazing band.

TOP SONG! I love it :) 5 stars!

this is what i think. | Reviewer: gary tinsley | 3/5/08

im not a big a7x fan but as far as ive heard like all the poeple in band grew up in catholic school but didnt like it which wouldm ean that they learned a bit about the bible... i mean their name is out of the bible... check out genises 4:24 and i hear alot of their lyrics are taken from scriptures... i think they combined the death ofthat one dude with the story of judah or whatever... the man who stabed jesus in the back.... he BETRAYED jesus.... jesus offers salvation (How could you kill the man who brought salvation) also as christains continue to be christains often their gaith in jesus grows (As time went by faith in you grew)

makes since doesnt it?

ok here's what i think it is | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/2/08

I think it's a song that is based of the POVs of a bystander, the killer (Gale), and Dimebag himself. The lyrics "Passion in my eyes...how could you go and throw it all away?" is Dimebag expressing how much emotion he puts into what he does...and the answer to that question by Gale "In my dreams....one thing left for me to do".

Then the first verse is by the killer who is foreshadowing his death "I know after tonight, your power crubmles in my arms".

Then the second verse is by the bystander, or maybe even someone in the band that witnessed it.

After the chorus plays again, the next verse could be by Dimebag...reiterating his importance to the music life and how he affected it...and the fact that injuring a piece of music history was NOT worth his death.

Then the final verses and the last verse is based on the POV of the killer and the thoughts he could of had before during and after the shooting.
