I think this song tell about a man in a drug or alcohol may be..
This peace on earth's not right,,no pain or sign of time,,this place full of peace and light but it's all not real,so he want someone to brings him back to the real life..

Acutally Zacky V said that the meaning of the song is:
"The song is about a person who finds himself in the afterlife and they realize that they have too much stuff to do back on Earth and to go back and make it right they have to ,you know, they have to escape their afterlife. So, they can go back to the people they love and care about."

This song can be interpretted in so many ways. it can be metaphorical & refer to a relationship, how he fell in love with another woman, but realised he wasn;t ready for her yet because he had unfinished business. I personally believe he fell in love with death, but was too scared to commit. I think it's open to the listener to come up with what they feel best suits the lyrics.

No i definately believe that The Rev Knew exactly what was going on...... I believe he was not ready and this song was a plead to god to "give him another chance to live". When he backs up for M Shadows he speaks exactly what he feels. He says he is unbroken, he later says unbreak me ,unchain me......... as M shadows sings Oh lord ill try but you gotta let go off me... then at the end it says id hope you might take me back inside when the time is right. My people he is not speaking of a woman or a relationship but of god and heaven.... He wanted to stay and this was his song..... RIP REV

this is what i think: this song is about a relationship between a guy and a girl who was not agreed upon probably by the guy's family and friends. the guy thinks that his relationship is like the afterlife (dream, no pain, no sign of time, etc.) because it was beautiful and all that. but he thinks he doesn't belong here yet because "loved ones back home are crying coz' they're already missing me" and "i feel wrong and that's my sign" so he decided to break up and wait for "when the time is right"... RIP Rev

well as true said, the meaning to the song is in the lyrics. His love died before him....something happens to him.....but the time's not ready, hence "give me your hand, but realize I just wanna say goodbye
Please understand I have to leave and carry on my own life" he still has some unfinished business to take care of as mortal. though he may want to be with her and loves her, but it could be watching his kid grow up or who know's, fact is that the meaning of the song is in the lyrics, ya'll look too in depth upon this. The song is about a guy who dies, and goes to heaven(the afterlife) and when he's there, he realizes that he has so much to do on earth, he begs god to let him leave and go to earth to finish his business, because he was too young to die.

Very ironic to the death of The Rev, dies at 28 which is extremely young.

i think the rev was writeing about himself becase he made this song befor he died mysteriously like he knew he had something wrong and was going to die and didnt want to tell anybody and this was his way of explaining

i've read some of the other reviews for this song, and don't agree, i think this song is not about love or death, is about realizing that life is too short and to make most of your time here on earth, to not focus on the trivialities cause pretty soon we'll all be dead and want to have a life well spent..

Think of it this way. A7X is an extremely metaphorical band, and people whobtry to find the meaning in the song who base it off of the words are on the right track but not looking deep enough. Is he really in the Afterlife? No, he is in a love, but doesn't want to be. When he is ready to make the commitment, then he will come back. It's just like A Little Piece of Heaven, he isn't actually encouraging canabalism, he is telling about how deep he hurt his lover, probably a song relating to this one.

This song is great,I like it too much cause I fell like it's so sad and to clear things up this song is actually about a guy and a girl who love each other but something happens and the girl dies but she also brings the guy with her to the afterlife and he tells her that even though the afterlife is great he wants to spend the rest of his life on earth but he will come back for her in the right time because he felt like he doesn't belong to that place (afterlife)...in the end Avenged Sevenfold are the best,the only band who really knows how to make me feel!!

this is a great song. its so great its like every great song coined into one. the guitar solo could have been a song to itself without a word being said. the video gives clarity as to the true meaning of the song. my take is that the someone girl is dead and in heaven and in heaven and he is about to meet the same faith. however as much as he is fund of the fact reaching heaven and be with the one he loves he still thinks this occurred all too early. so he is asking for a second chance go to finish his time on earth hoping that God will take him back when time is right. my take. cheers
