The Crimson | Reviewer: Unknown | 5/26/08

the second single from "The Curse", "The Crimson" starts off with a clean guitar and Brandon's Hi-Hats. The first verse has the intro played throughout it, with some double bass from from Brandon behind it. Alex screams this and the second part of the verse. The chrous features Brandon singing with Alex screaming somewhat over it. The second verse is much the same as the first, but the rythym does not change at all, whereas in the second part of the first verse it does slightly. Another chorus follows, which is the same as the first. A breakdown proceeds to steal the song. One of "Atreyu's" finest in my opinion. A second breakdown, or a part two if you will follows. Brandon sings and Alex later screams "Just live and breathe, try not to die again." Another chorus later and the song comes to a close. The lyrical aspect of "The Crimson" is all about exploring vampire immortality. This is one of my favorite songs on the album, and of theirs overall. 5/5

an long time fan of Atreyu | Reviewer: Maharasa | 3/18/08

Long time Atreyu fan here to say: Atreyu is not Christian, this is not a love song in the traditional sense, its a vampiric love song. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crimson_%28song%29

Talking to God? well Agnostic theists talk to God... see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnostic_theism
but they aren't christian and there is many other faiths besides christians. Hey even the popular christian Satan talks to God... Maybe hes a christian.... oh and you christians favorite secular rock band Creed.... they Agnostic Theists, just cause the word God is mentioned doesn't give you the right to claim them as your own. avenged sevenfold is not christian either.... they fit Agnostic Theists perfectly though. Just cause a band says God, speaks of religion, or alludes to religious ideas does not make them christian. But then again its no wonder, its this type of self important, claiming anything they want to be theirs as their own, solely to avoid haven't to accept they might actually like or be interested in something secular, is what makes most non-christians not want to join you in your beliefs.

There was a site that had an interview with Alex Varkatzas where he admitted hes totally fascinated by the concept of vampires, but that was back in 2005 that I read that, and I can't find it now, other then it being reported on nearly every Atreyu Fan site. But yeah its talking about being immortal and regretting all the things hes done. Its also an allusion to him fucking up in his regular life he stated that.

Heh oh and the chorus is astatement of "the passing 'The Blood'", that could be seen as a "lover's embrace" or "love song", if you don't think Vampiric Goth. I would say its almost like an Anne Rice embrace straight out of the novels or something you might of heard in "Interview with a Vampire".... here it is straight up in vamp speak to the normals translation:

Will you still hold me when you see what I have done? Will you still kiss me the same,[-Are you going to be mad when you find out your a living dead girl. Will you still want me when you realize that you can't go back-]

When you taste my victim’s blood?[-The victim's blood is hers, it would be on his lips cause he has to drain her and kill her first before he can revive her, her blood would be the freshest in him and when he passes his blood to her, he would really be partly giving her own blood back.-]

So crimson and red,[-of course cause its fresh, if it was old crimes, it wouldn't be crimson and red, it would be dark purple and black, dried up. Oh and it would coming from a slit wrist, hand, or finger tip right now.-]

I feel it flowing from your lips. (Crimson and red) [-He's giving himself to her, even though he don't know if she will accept him. He can feel it running down from her lips, not their lips, because hes slit his wrist or palm or finger, presumably the left hand by tradition. Vampires don't generally transfer the blood to their intended childe from their lips, but they could effectively bite their lip and do such. oh and its flowing from her lips cause usually at first the new childe attempts to reject the idea of drinking blood.-]

My heart is dead and so are you.[-A finalizing statement that they are both dead, either a. she is a vampire now too, or b. she rejected his offer and is now dead beyond recovery.-]

All and all its a rather satisfying song...

Maharasa, 8th generation, 6th circle, servant of the dark master. Don't seek me, If I find you worthy, I'll seek you.

People just because they swear doesnt mean that they cant be a christian band... Look at avenged sevenfold they have some very crude lyrics but listen to half there songs... there about religion there band name derives from religion.

Atreyu is not a christian band | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/25/08

like i said up theyre not a christian band cause they say the "F-word" in bleeding mascara. im in a christian band and thats one of the things you shouldnt be saying. Although i do see what your trying to say about him talking to God it makes sense. my band is gonna do a cover for this and im looking foward to singing to him!

AWESOME!! | Reviewer: Destructive Death | 2/17/08

My God... I love this song so much... I sung it to my ex who was being an idiot... so I sung it to him and he pretty much got the message...

This song is just awesome... It should go down in history as one of Atreyu's greatest songs!!

I totally agree with you Nicole...

This guy is a cheater! | Reviewer: Jeet B | 2/14/08

Yeah that's pretty much what i've figured of this song, That's definitively a love song, written for a ex-girlfriend that the singer cheated on (or left for another girl).

I can tell so by :

A - the vampire metaphore. The vampire is a life consumer, a bit like the consumption of life when you leave someone. The person is "left without a soul" - let's say.
B - The vampire metaphose shows that the guy kinda change into a monster. So at first he was kind and shit, and after he because careless.

"Will you still kiss me after what i've done." What did he do? he consumed another victim, well that's what vampire do. However, with what has been said about victims, it clearly tells us that he went out with another girl and now cries back on his old girlfriend.

"will you taste my victim's blood" -> he's not talking about menstruation here, will you kiss me even if i kissed another girl

I'm not sure if the girl want to get back with him. "My heart is dead and so are you" (that what i've previously explained by people that are being left). But he also says in the bridge, "All i have is hope, all i need is time, to bury..." I mean he want to relive, he want to change but he'll do it on his own, leaving the girl doing her stuff, "just live and breath, try not to die again". But his hope are probably that one day he'll go back to her

ANYWAY THAT A FREAKING AWSOME SONG, I mean, people say, Atreyu, vampire, death, blood, ewww that a bad song...yo wtf, that like a muscial chef-d'oeuvre, like yuo don't get that kind of peotry in ANY other song i know...whatever, i think i feel that song because i kinda was in that kind of situation and that was like exactly how i felt.

Christian band? wtf.. | Reviewer: Lena | 1/16/08

maybe I really missed something - but since when is atreyu a christian band? urg...I'm so hoping they're not..! *confused now*

I dunno, this song is obviously about a vampire but one could also think it's about someone who feels like he'd always disappointed people and took advantage of them and now that he's fallen in love he regrets it and thinks this girl won't love him if she knows all about his past. Like he didn't really killed those peolpe but rather in an emotionally way.

It's like this one song by mcr. Everyone was thinking it's about vampires but actually they just transformed a normal life experience into a metaphor. People who want to break you down = vampires who want to suck the life out of you. ^^

:P | Reviewer: Kevin | 1/12/08

This song reminds me of The Twilight books too. And while I love this song, I absolutly HATE those books. Vampire boy falls in love with human girl. Howw orriginal... -_-

i love this song ^^ | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/16/07

its aboiut vampires though.
1. The singer said so in an interview.
2. there are millions of hints in the text. example: When you taste my victim’s blood, Something the mirror doesn't recognize, I’m an Anne Rice novel come to life.

this is the real story about the song | Reviewer: whit | 11/11/07

actually if you go on atreyu's website it tells about the song. the song is about this man who killed a man and he is telling his wife about what happened in a letter to her.
