wow- seriously, everyone interprets music in their own way. Its practically impossible to know the "exact" meaning of a song from the writers perspective since we are all prone to view reality differently. The same could be said of anything. In my opinion, Their lyrics are subconscious thoughts of lives trials and tribulations, carried out very passionately and emotionally, and yes, very loudly. I was surprised to hear they were Cristian but not in disbelief. Nor did it lead me to believe their lyrics held some kind of religious meaning. Just raw, emotional, and sometimes spiritual. Plus have you heard or seen them play? talk about intense. I personally dont believe in religion, so that could be another reason why this music holds no religious meaning to me. Like I said, everyone interprets reality differently. My fanatic, devout Cristian grandmother would probably not consider this Christian music though. She would, more likely than listen to it, write it off as satanic ten seconds into the song. That is everyone's first reaction. The second is the disbelief when I tell them they are Christians. There, in my opinion, is another beautiful, unique aspect of their music. They're basically saying nothings as it seems. Dont Judge a book by its cover. Christians can play heavy metal too. Its not Christianity, its not satanic, Its not religion. Its music. Meant to be beautiful, in its own way.

hey guys check the homepage FAQs,
"Are you guys Christians in a band or a Christian band?
I'm not sure what the difference is between five Christians playing in a band and a Christian band. If you truly believe something, then it should affect every area of your life. All five of us are Christians. I believe that change should start with me first, and as a result, our lyrics do not come across very "preachy." Many of our songs are about life, struggles, mistakes, relationships and other issues that don't fit entirely in the spiritual category. However, all of these topics are written about through my perspective as a christian."
its all on there... don't get your knickers in a twist
this argument is stupid, this is about music not religion | Reviewer: Metal Mike | 10/16/08

It clearly quotes scripture from Ecclesiastes in the lyrics....talks about material things something that not many religions agree about....it was Osama who promised the 100 virgins because he's a pig. Not Allah. Besides lust is an earthly MATERIAL THING. Go figure.
o.0;
okay first off lust isnt a material object. second, to all this debate about them being a christian band or not-who fucking cares?? i am a practising satanist and i listen to As I Lay Dying all the time because there rockin fuckin tunes. it doesnt matter. just like i DON'T listen to bands like Behemoth or Dimmu Borgir just because they are (or claim to be) satanic. i listen them because they are kick ass heavy fast music. music and religion just shouldnt be mixed. music is a form for free expreeion, not pushing your religous beliefs on other people. if you try to convert people with your music your no fucking better than the mormons that go around door to door. in my oppinion anyway, im sure someone else will disagree with me. post it up and see if i give a fuck.

you know if you can't blatantly tell a band is christian than why listen to them as a christian band, if you want meaningful christian lyrics go listen to tree 63, or newsboys. I like this band and this song because this group of guys can produce a great sound that I enjoy to cruise with.
wow how lame | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/9/08
None of this is Christian. What's wrong with you people. Your so called "analogies" are stretched so far that there's no way they're even attempting to relate christianity to their music.
"The lyrics of this are blatantly Christian --
How quickly I forget...
That this is meaningless.
in a world passing through my fingers.
I still chase the wind. --
I think it is talking about the material world being meaningless when you look at God's big picture."
Are you kidding. Do you realize how many millions of things that could relate to?
It could mean that the material world is meaningless because allah promised you 72 virgins in heaven after you run a plane into a building....if you believe in islam of course. See how stretched that is? You're all dumbshits. They're just lyrics. Half the time it's probably about stupid girls that tear your heart out, just like everybody else.

Though they dont try to make their lyrics sound preachy, that they are all christian and that makes their lyrics christian. the line "Wandering souls capture my thoughts.." stands out to me since i often am captured by thoughts of wander souls soon to be lost that i have to sit down and am on the verge of tears "Nightgoat" was right too.
