I don't think this song about Alexa. Because the album with this song recorded in December 2006. And Alex was in a relationship with Alexa Chung from April 2007.

The song is about him and Alexa Chung and the reason they broke up was because he was always busy touring and never got time to be with her. This is what the song is about not Kate Moss, where the hell did you people get this stuff from haha

505 is a room number,the room number, and it's in that room his/your love is, "laying her side". And it really doesnt matter if you're going to be greeted with a "smile" or "a goodbye" and "hands around the neck", in the end seeing her again is worth anything, be it a "7 hour flight or a 45 minute drive".

I recently discovered the arctic monkeys and I totally dig them. I've never been into contemporary music like this, mostly like the stones, dylan, bowie and hendrix but i saw you guys wondering about 505 and the only way I can see it making sense is the lyricist paying tribute to the great(also british) Mick Jagger on the stones song "Flight 505". The only reason I see it this way is the fact that the line is "I'm going back to 505, if its a 7 hour flight".

I only discovered Arctic Monkeys for about a year... but I still love them! I'm American and most of our rock songs are classic rock or pop rock. But Arctic Monkeys introduced me to Brit Rock like the Libertines or Joy Division. I love this band so much and even through all their musical changes, I will always be a loyal fan.
Plus I'm going to their North American tour!

I think that 505 as he refers to it is 1 either an adress, or 2 a time. like he could take a 45 minute drive back to her place or a 7 hour flight, change time zones and what not and be able to get back to that time. As for the rest of the song, if you read it over, almost sounds like hes gonna rape someone o.O

alex turner had not a fling with kate moss.
after a concert she asked him for his telephone number.she phoned him but he wasn't interested in her....his mother says that kate moss wouldn't be good for him. :)

I'm pretty sure the 505 in question is a hotel room or apartment number... just my take on it (didn't read or hear anything). But it does fit in with Simo's Kate Moss theory above!

apparently this songs wrote about the lead singers fling with Kate Moss or so i heard on Jo Whileys Radio 1 show

505 is the Area Code of the bitty town I live in.
