Funeral | Reviewer: Dave Haworth | 8/9/07
I have already asked that this song should be played at my funeral and that Gandalf's words to Pippen regarding this not being the end but the rain curtain rolling back..... should be one of the readings.
a little comentary for an extraordinary song | Reviewer: madison | 8/1/07
this song makes me feel melancholy and i also feel sad but at the same time it makes me feel very well. first i wanna thank J.R.R. TOLKIEN because he wrote this amazing story. then thanks to PETER JACKSON for making this 3 films that always will be there for all the fans of the trilogy. and finally thanks so much to HOWARD SHORE and ANNIE LENNOX. without they talent we wouldn´t have this extraordinary song.
The reason for this song | Reviewer: Leighton | 7/17/07
This song was written for young man called Cameron Duncan a writer directer from New Zealand who died of Cancer. They wrote the song and put it in the film to honour the life of Cameron Duncan. You lot should watch the extended edition where they have a short film on the guy and it says there into the west was for him and the lyrics reflect what he should see as he passes to heaven.
Journey to Death and Beyond | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/13/07
I believe this song is the "sequel" to May It Be from the frist part. Both songs have a double meaning: May It Be talks about the journey to destroy the ring and about the struggle with darkness, but is also talking about our personal trials and tribulations within our own lives. In life we are only at the beginning of our great journey. In 'Into The West' it talks about the end of our journey in this world and the continuation into the next life. Death is not the end as Gandalf says to Pippin in the Return of the King "End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it."
I smile through tears. | Reviewer: sarah | 7/10/07
This song really reflects the bitter-sweetness of death: bitter because we are forever restless in this world, yet we are loth to leave it and those we love. But it is also vary consoling because of it's hope of Glory. That though we must say goodbye, perhaps we will meet again. Death is not the end. And somewhere there are white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.

Universal Bittersweet Lament | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/24/07
One of the few musical pieces which brings tears every time I listen.
This song captures the ending of "the Lord of the Rings" so well. Thanks to the writers and the magical music of Howard Shore.
This captures the bittersweetness so well that we can apply the song to most of the wonderful endings in books and movies. That's why I feel it's universal. Tolkien fans might see this as a sequel to 'namarie' of Galadriel.
Into the west | Reviewer: Nick | 5/31/07
great song- wanted to sing a non religious song at a funeral recently -it was so appropriate, it reflects how we all feel when we loose someone after a long struggle
Destination... | Reviewer: Zil | 5/29/07
The place it is sang about is the eternal elven land of Valinor in the westernmost parts of Middle Earth. And even though the song is about LOTR it doesnt have to be linked to the book/movie since it's so emotional and touching... Brings back memories which it shouldn't or maybe should, made me think about my first love who moved away 5 years ago.
