The Reviews about The Feel Good Drag (page 10/ 12)
------ performed by Anberlin

stupid | Reviewer: nick | 9/7/08

guys, this is ridiculous.
The members of Anberlin are all christian. As are alot of people. They express it a bit more than the average person, but in no way does that make them a christian band. Their music shouldnt be tied in with christianity any more than the many other topics in their lyrics.

I'm not the one to say | Reviewer: Uhhhhh | 8/22/08

Well, everyone insists that Anberlin is a Christian band, and honestly, I would've thought so too with their lyrics. But reading articles and quotes by their lead singer (who along with guitartist writes all the songs) that Christian says that although they may have person beliefs in religion, they are not a "Christian Band"....So, they may or may not be Christians in life, but in music, they are just that...great musicians/songwriters.

an opinion should be based on facts | Reviewer: Frank | 8/18/08

anberlin is definetly christian. As in they are christians in a band formely signed to a christian label [tooth & nail]. Stephen Christian, the lead singer, is a professed christian previously coming from a local band SaGoh [which stands for 'servants after God's own heart]. But its obvious that they're lyrics aren't overtly christian. And 'Jesus' or 'God' or other 'christian' terms aren't continually referenced in thier work. Though there have been some instances such as in thier song 'paperthin hymn' where the singer sings "when life is in discord, praise ye the Lord". And also in thier song "a whisper and a clamor", a verse from ephesians 'clap your hands all ye children' is used in the chorus. Personally, I differentiate christian music from non-christian music with the verse in phillipians that talks about thinking about whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is noble ... Throughout Anberlin's music you'll notice that they sing about what they truely believe in, speaking against such things as suicide [Godspeed] and divorce [there is no mathematics to love & loss]. The band, I surmise, is aware of debates on whether their music is 'christian' or not, and i think thats why in thier song whisper & clamor, the lyricist clearly states:

I grow tired of writing songs
Where people listen but never hear what's really going on now
Tell me what's so wrong now.

Suffice to say, anberlin IS a Christian band, but not the typical christian bands as we've come to think them, but quite possibly a revolutionary one.

Come on people!!! | Reviewer: Raschell | 8/14/08

Anberlin is 100% a Cristian band. I know that some of you think otherwise, but they truly are. I have proof! "With downcast eyes
There's more to living than being alive

Are you where you thought you'd be
So beautiful and only twenty-three
Opposition rests in the hearts
With no, with no, with no opportunity
It's not that we don't talk
It's just no one really listens and honesty fades
Like a politician lost in the course
All smiles and no one remembers our name" -Alexithymia

That means that there is more to life than just being! It's saying that we as Christians have to follow God's planned route in our lives, and show the others who are fading from his plan to that right path!
People think they know what a song is saying, but in truth most of the time they are wrong. I mean next people are gong to say that Emery is not a Christian band! People think that 'The Party Song' is about getting drunk, but it actually means that life is not a party, and there is more waiting for us in Heaven!!!

yeah god on review of music | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/13/08

Anberlin is a complicated band many disagree to the fact that they are either christian,or other ganre, both sides have great arguements, if the lyrics are taken from different angles they can really change the meaning of a song. I say we should stop argueing about what type of music they sing and talk about how all of us enjoy there amazing lyrics

Ignorance is right. | Reviewer: Red | 8/7/08

Yeah, ignorance is right. You people need to do more research before you open your big mouths and spew crap.
The fact is this and this only. The band started out as SaGoh. Servants After God's Own Heart. If that's not a CHRISTIAN title, I don't know what is. These songs aren't corrupting, anti-God, or murdering... You people are so lost, it's not even funny.
You hear lyrics and read into them. You take one phrase of the song, think of something, and then think of that something you thought of and turn it around and make it exactly what it's NOT.
Just because we're Christians doesn't mean we're immune to hurt. No, it means that we have something to fall back on. And YOUR insecurities are showing by you slamming something you read into. Something you don't know the whole story about. Something that you can't have. Just because the songs have "Questionable" lyrics means nothing. Look at Plumb. If you knew one tick about them, you'd know they're Christians. Yeah. Go youtube "Plumb - Cut", and you'll see that everyone feels pain. We just deal with it better.
Ever hear of Wikipedia? If you have, you wouldn't be here. Go there and search for "Anberlin".
The website's wikipedia.org, by the way.

praise god my ass. | Reviewer: jesika;; | 7/8/08

anberlins not a christian band xD
i mean forreal.

i like there lyrics though they're deep.
but the point is
people who think they 'praise god' are idiots.

and also whoever thinks they're going to push kids over the edge is completly ignorant.
hahaha
i can help but laugh.

the feel good drag | Reviewer: gema | 5/20/08

if u really read the lyrics none of their songs are about God, they are about suicide! ur brains are being wash!! check before u say that!
The singer offers to help a self-absorbed friend find a better life on "The Unwinding Cable Car" ("I'll guard your heart/ With quiet words I'll lead you in"). He refuses to be used by a woman ("Adelaide"), relishes childhood innocence ("Inevitable") and elevates the lost art of conversation ("Dismantle Repair"). Christians who sacrifice their wives and children on the altar of ministry get a wake-up call on "*Fin," though ... The unclear line "Wish your drinking would hurry and kill you" is mean-spirited. Disillusionment and pain are joined by obscure references to needles, suicide and "guilty lovers" ("Godspeed"). Despite ending with "there's hope," "Hello Alone" majors in loneliness and despair ("Depression is the unholy ghost ... I've got the gun/ All I need is 10 cents for the bullet/I feel helpless"). Amid talk of raging inner demons, "Reclusion" contains strange metaphors about killing others and strangling lovers.
Impressive artistry, but Anberlin's murky lyrics and pronounced dark side could send a dangerous message to teens on the edge. A smattering of pro-social sentiments aside, this former tourmate of Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance echoes the futility of those bands.
