Seriously... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/21/09
Seriously guys, stop arguing. I've seen a fair few posts on here by people that claim to be Christian, yet immediately flame the people who say this song isn't about God. And vice versa. This song is open to opinion, and in my opinion, it is based on God. I am a Christian, I believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God, and was raised back to life again, so that obviously influences my idea. Remember people, the bible says "love your neighbour as yourself." That also means respect people's opinion. This song is very good, we all agree on that, so let's stop the bickering. If you are desperate to find the meaning to this song, e-mail Anberlin :). Or, if you want to ask me why I believe this, just email me :) (stephenlamont@hotmail.co.uk)

First off I'd like to say I'm a Christian...I love this song. It personally means something to me. I agree that it's everyones own opinion to interpret what they want from this song...if they think the band is Christian or not is their personal opinion. We shouldn't criticize someone else's beliefs or opinions. Personally to me the song is per se like someone else said a battle with addictions for not just one but everyone. In the video you see someone trying to break through and save this girl...to me this is a representation of Jesus saving...but in the end he doesn't reach the girl in time. Her "sin" consumes her. Again this is just my interpretation please don't criticize...just enjoy this amazing song...whoever u r :)
Kick Ass Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/19/09
I friggin LOVE this song! Now, I came here more concerned about learning to sing the song well than discussing God or the lack thereof. That being said, I decided to come here with a fresh idea: do any of you realize that all of you are RIGHT? If English class has taught me anything it's that poetry (ie: music) is open for interpretation. There is no right answer, ergo, every answer is right! Everyone is going to interpret a song differently based on prior beliefs, experiences, or even their mood at the time. Christians will be liable to put a Christian spin on things and those who don't believe in a God will often write Him off as a topic. But Holy Shit (no pun intended) an opinion is just that, an opinion! No doubt the writer has an idea in his or her head when a song is written, but once it gets out here that's public domain. So just try to have an open mind about things, no matter which side you're on.
ps: I believe in Jesus but can't stand it when a song has His name or God or holy or anything too "religious" in it. ... go figure.
Christian... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/19/09
um actually it is very relevant whether what this song says lines up with Christian beleifs!!!
Anberlin claims to be Christian so it is important that they remain consistent with what profess. also as representatives of Christ and those who are bought with His blood it is EXTREMELY important that what they sing line up with His standards. and yeah this song is awesome
The commenters are at shame. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/16/09
Um...
Good Song. Stop arguing semantics about religion, all of you fools. It's retarded, and ruining the page of a perfectly good song. Shame on you all.
If you guys were having a meaningful discussion this would be a hypocritical comment, but seeing as you aren't, SHAME ON YOU ALL!!!

I gotta say this at least once. Shut up! Christians shouldn't forget not to push too hard and accept people for who they are and what they believe in, even if it stands in direct defiance of their own beliefs. But all the non-Christians trying to cut down the beliefs of Christians and then condemning Christians for trying to convert or at least spread their word makes absolutly no sense. So please loosen up people, this is a great song and this website is not a place to battle theological beliefs. Life is too short to be bothered by such inane arguments. Besides I think the song is about a wicked woman who uses drugs or alcohol as a crutch, what do you think drab eyes look like? like the devils got her hands? She does bad and wicked things, she sins, obviously, she lies, she deceives and leads others down a bad path, I know someone just like that. Peace be with you and try to love yourself and the people in it, we only get one, and I think pretty much everyone can agree on that. Except Budhists maybe lol.
oh people shut up | Reviewer: Emily | 4/14/09
ok let me just say this for the record. LOVE this song, its really good. I am just now reading about the band, seems like they are chill. now... does it really matter whether or not this band is portraying Jesus or anything Christian? Its a good song, they seem to be a legit band, so shut up and stop being so negitive that yes they are a Christain band. Heres what you don't get. Just because someone writes about God doesn't make it bad. Writers are inspired by many things, and wow... someone is inspired about writing about God, go figure. Sometimes the greatest songs can be written about God. If this is how the band expresses themselves then deal with it. Now if its a metal screaming band people autmatically assume that its devil worship music. OMG people... read the actual lyrics before judging songs. Take Killswitch Engage: My Curse (the new stuff), someone told me "OMG you listen to devil worship!" and i was like no moron its a love song! People it doesnt matter what deeper meaning a song has, some may have no meaning at all, but when it comes to Christian music just shut up and enjoy it. I hate people who judge so quickly, Yellowcard is a Christian band, they are really good. Does every song consist of Jesus and God, NO! if you like it listen to it, other then that shut the hell up and get over it. They are good. Also if you are a Christian, shut up too. Like my god... like one guy said not everything has something religious in it! so sit down, listen to the music and shut up! stop being douchebags and overthinking things that could or could not be about religion. and for those of you who say religion is gay, who are you to say that religion is for fags. just because you choose not to believe something doesnt give you have the right to put it down. Its a song, just relax and enjoy what the band has to offer. Also, I do not have a religion. I believe in being a good person. Have some appreciation and respect for a band who does decide to talk about God, its not something to easily talk about.
Anberlin = God | Reviewer: L. | 4/15/09
First off this song is about how sometimes we have addictions in our lives. It may be cheating which is what this song is about. It talks how the devil just toys with us. This band is Christian, they do believe in God. And so do I. They did go mainstream so what. It doesn't mean they threw out God at all. This is about how sometimes we put our addictions before God, which is sad. That what this song is about. Those of you saying it's all about sex are wrong... oh and I've seen Anberlin in concert and they talk about Jesus.
Research!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/13/09
I don't listen to Anberlin, I like this song. That has no bearing on faith in a man named jesus. How you have to believe in a fake god to like a song is beyond my understanding. I wish jesus would come take you all back and let us live in peace :)
Just like your religion, no thought or research goes into what you believe. Only what you are told. How about you do research before you post something!
I think we're categorized like that a lot because we're on Tooth & Nail Records, which, years ago, was known as a Christian label and never lost that reputation. I don't care who listens to our records. If it helps people in whatever circumstances they're in, that's amazing, but I definitely don't classify us as a Christian band.
quote from Christian the singer not a christian that is his name.
It's a song, not theology. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/13/09
It's a song, a kick ass song. Don't confuse it with theology. Either way tolerate whatever the hell other people believe in you jackasses. If you wanna play Nazi with your spirituality go become a Muslim in Iran I have a feeling you'll fit in.
