I just saw the current Alice in Chains in Tx. They were awesome and Jerry's dad, known as the Rooster, was there. He introduced him before they sang Rooster. It made the song seem that much more intense. Loved it.

I live in australia, and these guys (with new singer) came to the soundwave music festival and played this. it was amazing, tho slightly diminished without layne, this song rocks. hope its on their new albulm. And for you american militarians posting on this, get a life. no one cares about the war in the middle east anymore. its why all countrys are pulling out. i find it funny that america is the 5th most feared military, 1st indonisia, second australia, third germany.
why bring states in??? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/12/09
All the dude was saying was that Texas still loves the troops..No one is trying to give Texas credit for the American Revolution. Either way, every state sends brave men and women, and agree with the war or not, they still need our support. Anyways, this song is not about individual statehood or anything, how pissed is Jerry Cantrell that this is what kind of reviews his songs are getting?

My family has served this country for three straight generations, and others before that off and on. I have gone to war three times. I am a Christian, and a Marylander. I served alongside all creeds and colors and backgrounds, and I can tell you, God doesn't have a particular preference to any nation, but Israel. Don't blaspheme by asking God to bless our nation. And by the way, remember what states rebelled against Britain to form our nation......... it wasn't the houston tea party, it was the boston tea party. And I wont even begin to touch on the fact that texas has been so much more prosperous since foreign oil has become more expensive. Shut up and serve, and keep my holy God out of politics. To our pacifists.....There is no purpose to a military other than war, there is no denying this. Peace is found in the shadow of swords.

AiC is such a great band, i agree w/ most of you, Staley created great musics, musics that are reflections of what he's been going through, addiction for Staley is 'not' to get high, but probably a way of a 'to make it through' to him, some people kill when high, some rob... but for him, its to express his ongoing life through music, and i would like to remember him that way, not you, not even me, is perfect enough to blame him for dying like that... i'm sure he did not wish to die like that, nobody does... He still live among us... through his music.

Don't even begin to accuse others of being "out of touch with reality." I support the troops with all my heart, and that's why I want them back in their homes, alive, rather than out there getting killed because of another illiterate Texan dipshit, much like yourself, who sent them out there on ill-founded bullshit and empty promises. Nationalism is mindless and a threat to humankind. Being a liberal doesn't mean not supporting the troops or not wanting freedom in America. In fact, it's the exact opposite --- I support the troops being safe and alive, and I support our freedom being preserved and growing in all ways possible, but WITHOUT infringing on the freedom of others whenever possible. So screw your ignorance and screw your war.

Too many people are so out of touch with reality now a days...especially the reality of Americas best defending this great soil! God bless EVERY serviceman and woman! I am not a soldier, I chose to work in the refinery and chemical business, but I was raised to be a patriot, and to respect all people but even more so the soldier, the vetran who gives all so I can live here and be free. GOD bless you all and I love ya'll. Texas still loves our soldiers even though some whack headed liberal nut jobs in Cali, and the upper east coast, try to bad mouth them...screw them, send them to the rag head nation to see what it's like, maybe it'll change their minds a bit!
Marine Mom.. | Reviewer: Liza | 5/26/09
I am 36 and my 19 yr old son is a marine..He is goin to Afgani..So this song really gets to me it always has..My uncle was a p.o.w for 5 years in vietnam...He was a gunner in the army..Regardless of the way Layne died it does not deflect from his music..People should not judge him..He was broken inside and his sorrow came out in his music..It should also remind everyone to rally around our troops..They risk there lives for our freedom..and wether you agree are not they are someones sons and daughters..TO my son and all his buddies in the marines and the army...Do are die..Semper Fi!!
Amazing | Reviewer: Bone | 4/8/09
the first time i heard this song was a few years back, and it was on the nothing safe: best of the box album. this was also the live version of this song, which is even better than the studio version. when i heard this song i was absolutely lost in the music. this song holds so much power, its just amazing for an entire band to come together and put out such amazing music live. i also agree with grungy-soul, we need to let go of the mistakes people make (staley's drug abuse) and remember him for the music. he has inspired me and my writing. i know staley is still rocking out in heaven. R.I.P
A Look Inside the Heart and Soul of an Incredible Band | Reviewer: Grungy-Soul | 4/1/09
well,im a Alice In Chains die-hard fan ...for me despite Staley's problems with drugs, he was an inspiration for many, cus Drugs are what killed him, but they're also a vital part of the music he made, for me he shouldn't be blamed anymore for being a drug user.I'm sad but he's not anymore...and ROOSTER was just a small icone of the band's inspiration which made their albums amazing and their live performances even better...I have heard so many people commenting on how layne died & I hope we can get over that and remember how He lived.
