The Reviews about Thrash Unreal (page 1/ 6)
------ performed by Against Me!
Masterpiece | Reviewer: mjunior | 7/19/09
Two things: 1. I don't really like Against Me; I've heard some other songs and I don't really care for them. 2. I think Tom Gabel's kind of an asshole, and I don't like him.
But it doesn't matter.
This is the best fucking song of the last 10 years. Even if you don't like the band, you can't tell me with a straight face that Thrash Unreal is anything short of a masterpiece, and if nothing else, I will ALWAYS respect the band for having made one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
It's good and thats all that matters | Reviewer: steviejay | 6/22/09
I have been a AM! fan for a few years but only in that I buy their albums and listen to their music. I didn't follow what label they were under or anything like that. I didn't know anything about them signing to a major label when I listened to new wave. I just thought it was another great album of their's. Who gives a shit what label they're under or how much money they make. I base it entirely on how good the music is and this album is fuckin' good. But, when I do think of them becoming mainstream I just take comfort in knowing that there is alot of people who will hear their new music and want to check out some of their old stuff too.
Sell-outs and the music biz. | Reviewer: Vee | 5/23/09
Being a "sell-out" has nothing to do with getting a record deal with a major company. Being a "sell-out" is when you get on a major label on your first record because you played douchebag music like Panic(!) at the Disco, the Jonas Brothers, etc. The real faggy music that only 12 year old girls listen to (and some older people, but refuse to tell anyone about it). Being in a rock band, is like having a job. You do what you do to make money, and you do the best you can to enjoy yourself. Since, being a musician is doing something you ENJOY, it's kind of hard to NOT make money if you're good enough. So you can't really call a band a sell-out if they strike a record deal with a major label, because that's garbage. That's not something a real fan would say.
And that's all I have to say about that. Anyway, I adore this song. New Wave is one of my all time favorite albums.
Dam Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/15/09
I heard this song on 97.3 The Sound in Cincy. Only place I heard it and I LOVE IT. Sell out, whatever, whoever says that crap is retarded. Unless they start playing new country or pop or change their whole image, they ain't sell outs. It took me days to find this song and band, didn't know them. Tomorrow I'm going to Best Buy, SOB's better have it. Good song, with meaning, great band, rock on.
Okay, morons. | Reviewer: Dayzi | 9/12/08
Honestly, will you people please get a life?
Against Me! are not sellouts.
What the fuck is the definition of sell-out anyway?
They're singing about how society's view of the 'perfect' life should not determine ours.
Think about the music, not the fact that they're mainstream.
You people need to grow the fuck up and stop trying to be such 'alternative' 'indie' asswipes.
amazing song | Reviewer: Keiran | 8/22/08
Fuck off with this "OH THERE SELL OUTS BULLSHIT." They are not sell outs. Just because they have a fan base of more than 500 people and are actually able to pay their bills with their music. Who cares if music is popular? Or punk? Or hardcore? Or whatever fucking genre and label you want to throw on it. Who cares as long as it sounds good. Music isn't about being pretentious, it isn't about being more 'indie' and 'edgy' then the next person, it isn't about whatever genre you want to label it. It's about the sound and what you feel when you hear it. People need to stop being so pretentious and get back to what really matters, the music. The feelings it envokes in you, the fun times you have rocking out like a maniac, the adrenaline you feel freaking out at a show.
On a side note, this is a really good song. I've never been big into Against Me! Until my friend forced me to listen to them, now I'm totally hooked.
Amazing | Reviewer: dust | 8/15/08

Awesome. | Reviewer: Jen | 7/24/08
This song is the epitome independence and living the way you want. All the morons ranting that they've turned pop obviously do not appreciate music, since it's the lyrics and personal additions that make up a song- not the genre.
But anyway, "she doesnt care", and she shouldnt

Against Me aren't even close to sell outs! This song may sound popish but look at the lyrics.. Thats far from pop, they are still the same guys maybe changed a little but you make millions of dollars & tell me you won't change! ;) 6/5 this songs great!
Ah, shut up! I thought it was good! | Reviewer: Terry | 3/11/08
Against Me! should not be considered sellouts for making different music. All great bands go through changes, and it could lead up to something even greater for all you know. They still sound good. If they played the same type of song over and over again I bet you'd complain about that too, right? And don't get so freakin upset they're getting different fans. Gosh, you don't own the band, so everyone is entitled to love em, hate em, or be indifferent. I like this song, whether or not it was everything they were against. For once look at it as an individual piece of work, not one song from the band. Then maybe you could appreciate it.
