drugs | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/1/08

are probably what this song is based off of, but it doesn't seem as centered on drug scenarios as other songs that are clearly about drugs. it seems more like he is referring to obsession in general, and our conscious realization of being obsessed and struggling with the realization.

It's so deep | Reviewer: Heavierthanasky | 12/27/07

The sound is typical for APC,and my vision of the song is,actually, connected with being addicted(everything you can be powerless over counts). But,what I love with this kind of abstract art, let's call it so,is that a hundreds of meanings can be pulled out, just from one small metaphor. So,debating about the real meaning is kind of silly.

The song is about beeing addicted to heroin, and iknow these things because i am an addict myself! He more or less refers to the 12 step program:) witch is working for me and alot of peopel around the world. Read the first step guys!!

Time to get in the mind of these musicians. Most of Maynard's songs along with Trent Reznor are purely inspired on their addiction to drugs and the different phases of withdrawal. Trent always refers to addiction as a woman and Maynard is a little more creative in my point of view. How you take it is how you take it, but this music was inspired by these means. I love Tool, Perfect Circle, and NIN and know that once the musicians finally get away from the grasps of these drugs that their music is usually less inspired or just doesn't communicate as well. Kinda sucks, but ten/twenty years of sacrificing their bodies and minds to make good music is enough. Time for them to enjoy the money they made and somebody else to take their place.

I agree with the reviewer below me in this song he uses drugs as merely a subject to base upon since if there is ever something you can become weak and powerless over...but the song isn't about drugs and your naive if you see it that way the song is saying we all have our impulses we follow them for a long time like an addiction sometimes we realize where were going so we try filling up that hole which that addiction left (hince the video) but its hard you know don't destroy this song for people who want to see how deep it is man i mean cause it is deep he might be referencing drugs in the song but that hole which is left behind could be from anything love, loss of someone you care about etc. E'n la sua volontade e nostra pace.

weak and poweless | Reviewer: ben | 11/28/07

IMHO the song not only talks about addiction to drugs in particular but about being a under the command of our impulses. we are weak, powerless, and without reason when our own passions take command of our senses.

general | Reviewer: merkaba | 11/15/07

You'll find what ever you want to in this song. The truth isn't limited to the individual. The song echos the idea of trying to fill ourselves and feel whole. Some people turn to drugs for that, some relationships, others material possession. Whatever it is, its all the same story, different insertions.

It's about heroin... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/30/07

This song is about drugs, not being in love as someone said. eg 'Jam another dragon down the hole' is another way of saying 'inject heroin', and 'china white' is another word for heroin.
This will cause hatred for saying this, but people need to stop idolizing Maynard James Keenan. He is a great lyricist and a great vocalist, granted, but the way some people carry on about his 'emotional delivery' and how all his songs are incredibly deep just because he sings them is just silly. Tool and A Perfect Circle are right up there in my favourite bands, but this hysteria over him is ludicrous.

good times | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/21/07

Maynard James Keenan's haunting voice is accompanied by the amazing guitarist that is Billy Howerdell, Let's thank god or someone for bringing those two together so we can enjoy not only Tool, but APC, and eventually Puscifer too!

Awsome | Reviewer: Climax | 5/11/07

This song's lyrics are original and unlike any other music. APC is by far the most inspirational band ever.

Someone feed the monkey while I dig in search of China
White as Dracula as I approach the bottom

my favorite lyric of all time

MJK IS A GOD!

Another one of those soul wrenching Ballads you feel in your veins and sends chills through your spine. Maynard's lyrics and voice hit you in places that really help you tap into the music, be it Tool or APC. His emotional delivery definitely affects your mood. Every time I listen to weak and powerless, it reminds me of the occasions or circumstances when I feel frustrated or even in love to a point where I feel as if I have no control over myself...just a really deep song, in my own opinion, because I can identify with it. Your conscience tries to reason with you but there are times when those evil impulses dominate your psyche and there's little you can do stop it.......

I love Maynard! | Reviewer: jenny | 1/15/06

Just another example of the endless talent that is and surrounds Maynard James Keenan.
This song rocks.
