Review hit it on the head. He's a guy in an asylum and he falls in love with an attendant. Whether its because she can get him the drugs he wants or he truly is in love and believes she loves him back. Regardless, he doesn't view her as an attendent. "She acts just like another nurse for other guys" indicates that. This song was written about a drug addict in rehab and how he is in love/ dependant on the nurse that takes care of him. The album "fantastic planet" that this song is featured on is all mostly about heroin. You should really check it out if you havent herd that album from Failure. "pharmacy keys" impliyes that he is using her keys to get into the pharmacy and get meds. "She acts just like a nurse with all the other guys" implys to me that she is a nurse to all the other guys in the asylum, but not for him (again, the deliriousness) because they are in love. the "pills in a little cup" again, imply the asylum and "her" being a nurse. This also implys that mabye she is being held captive by the pyscho and giving him her meds, bt it could also be just a hallucination by the pyscho or something like that. Um... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/14/07 I actually don't think it's either of them. To me, it sounds more like he's the crazy one -- and he's in love with his attendant in the asylum. Had he killed her, "She acts just like a nurse with all the other guys" doesn't really fit. I mean, if she's dead, she'd be acting as a scarecrow, or perhaps a doorstop, or the aforementioned rug whom we are greeting, but a nurse? As for the possibility of him loving some crazy woman -- With wording like that, I strongly doubt she's the crazy one. He sounds awfully possessive, obsessive and drug-addicted for her to be the only crazy one there, if she's crazy at all. The "drug" interpretation stands up a lot more than the others, but that becomes less likely to me when he says "She's got everything I need : Pharmacy keys." So, allegedly, the most important reason he loves her is that she has access to the drug cabinet. If she's his gateway to drugs he desires, that she would be a metaphor for a drug doesn't really make sense -- it's redundant. My personal opinion is that the song is about a man's attendant in an asylum. The song isn't necessarily about sincere love because, as I mentioned, his prime reason for loving her appears to be sitting in the medicine cabinet. However, lines like "Say hello to the shrinking in your head" suggest to me that he is, in fact, in an asylum, and in that case the nurse could be taken literally. He claims she loves him, but if he were mentally unstable it's likely that he's possessive of the person who takes care of him. Anyway, I think this song is truly amazing. I'd be interested to know what the writer's inspiration was, and what he was really thinking about when it was written.
